Are you in the market for a luxury SUV with good fuel economy? These three fuel-efficient luxury SUVs come in over $40,000 but have plenty of specs to make up for the price. You might pay more for a hybrid powertrain in these sport utility vehicles from Lexus and Lincoln, but you’ll make up for it in fuel savings.

The Lexus NX PHEV is one of the best fuel-efficient luxury SUVs

While this SUV comes in various powertrains, U.S. News says the 2022 Lexus NX PHEV is the most fuel-efficient option. That comes at about $15,000 more than the regular hybrid, so weigh your options before making the call. Lexus’ NX 450h+ has a four-cylinder engine and three electric motors to get 304 hp and 37 miles of electric range. Lane departure warning, Forward collision warning, and Blind-spot monitoring are all standard.

All-wheel drive is standard, and the seats are described as adult-friendly. With an estimated fuel economy rating of 84 MPGe or 36 mpg, the 2022 Lexus NX PHEV checks all of the boxes. It also snagged the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick Plus award, which means it performed well on all crash tests.

Annual Estimated Fuel Cost: $1,250

Check out the Lincoln Corsair for another fuel-efficient luxury SUV

Buyers of the 2022 Lincoln Corsair agree that it doesn’t skip on luxury. Though the plug-in hybrid version costs about $14,000 more than the base, it comes with everything buyers might want. Thanks to that powertrain option, it gets 78 MPGe or 33 mpg combined, which does help with the sting of the price. Forward collision warning, Automatic high-beam headlights, and Rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the Corsair.

Thanks to the four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, the EPA-estimated electric range is 28 miles. Not to mention the quiet cabin, roomy seats, and easy-to-navigate infotainment system. The 2022 Lincoln Corsair received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
