In America, folks love trucks, and they love speed. So it’s really no surprise that over the years, manufacturers have been finding ways to combine the two. In 2023, we have the Ford F-150 Raptor R and Ram TRX, but even in the past, brands have been providing pickup trucks with legitimate speed and power. These are the three fastest trucks ever put into production.

What is the fastest truck you can get?

In 2023, the GMC Hummer EV is the fastest truck with a 0 to 60 mph time of just 3.0 seconds. No, this pickup isn’t powered by some big V8 engine; rather, it is fully electric. And that is how it achieves such speed.

Fully-electric vehicles provide near-instantaneous delivery of power and torque. The accelerator is essentially an on/off switch for speed. Although the Hummer EV is massive and heavy, it is one of the fastest new trucks that you can buy.

3. Dodge Ram SRT-10

OK, so while today’s electric trucks are extremely fast, there’s something special about a fast pickup with an internal combustion engine. The Dodge Ram SRT-10 is essentially a Dodge Viper in truck form. It comes with the Viper V10 engine that makes 500 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque. This engine means a 0 to 60 mph time of under 5 seconds.

To make the SRT-10 even more sporty, it also offers a manual transmission. Add to that its good looks, and it’s easy to see why this truck has become collectible. The one downside might be its spoiler, which does take away some practicality. But this pickup is about going fast, not necessarily hauling plywood from the hardware store.

2. Toyota Tundra TRD Supercharged

With the 2024 Toyota Tacoma reveal, Toyota has been in the news for its trucks. Back in the mid-2000s, the brand did something pretty crazy with the Tundra full-size pickup. It gave the 5.7-liter V8 engine a supercharger.

The result of this supercharged truck engine is 504 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. That means a 0 to 60 mph time of less than 4.5 seconds in a full-size truck. Now, the legitimacy of this truck is questioned a bit. But, it’s certainly not your average Toyota Tundra.

1. Ford F-150 Raptor R

The Raptor R is Ford’s latest performance truck. It is more powerful than the Ford F-150 Raptor, and according to Motor1, it is faster than the Ram TRX. This pickup comes with a supercharged V8 engine; it is the same 5.2-liter V8 found in the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

That’s not to say the V6 engine in the standard Raptor is bad. But if you watch the video above, just listen to the Raptor R. Not only does it have serious performance, it sounds like it as well. And as we move into a world filled with electric trucks, the sound of a supercharger and eight cylinders is something to be appreciated.
