Some people want a tiny SUV that still has all the luxury features of its bigger counterparts. These extra small luxury SUVs come from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi, but there’s one sport utility vehicle from Cadillac you might want to skip over.

The Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class is an extra small luxury SUV worth checking out

When Edmunds listed the smallest luxury SUVs on the market, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class was the number one pick. Even though it is considered an extra small SUV, Edmunds notes that it is spacious for passengers and cargo. The engine offers plenty of power, and the GLB has the latest technology buyers might want. Mercedes emphasizes utility over style with this compact option, which many buyers want. The back seat has enough room, but make sure you take car seats to test out the space if you have small children. Mercedes GLB SUV received a four-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

MSRP range: $38,600 – $49,950

BMW’s X1 is a good option for an extra small luxury SUV

Edmunds describes the 2022 BMW X1 as the “quintessential BMW SUV just in a smaller package.” For how small it is, Edmunds says it still has plenty of cargo space and is quite fun to drive. If the bigger BMW SUVs are too big or out of budget, the X1 is a good alternative. Some of the best safety features are BMW’S Remote Services, which can help drivers locate and unlock the car from an app. City Collision Mitigation and Speed Limit Info are other noteworthy additions. The NHTSA gave the X1 a five-star overall safety rating, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) had similarly high scores.

MSRP range: $35,400 – $37,400

Check out the Audi Q3 sport utility vehicle

The 2022 Audi Q3 is a good option but isn’t the roomiest in the segment. Audi’s classic SUV shape is suitable for performance and looks but doesn’t leave as much space in the cargo area. However, experts note that it is fun to drive and luxurious enough that the lack of space doesn’t matter that much. Audi included all of the technology buyers might expect. Audi Pre Sense Front, Audi Side Assist, and the Top View Camera System are some of the best safety features. Plus, the IIHS gave it many high safety scores.

MSRP range: $36,400 – $42,000

You can skip over the Cadillac XT4

Unfortunately, the 2022 Cadillac XT4 came in a bit below the segment average. Edmunds says it still managed to make a good impression but fell short in some areas. In fact, Edmunds says, “a closer look reveals cost-cutting measures and underwhelming performance.” The ride is described as busy, and the cabin isn’t as quiet as buyers might like. Cadillac also doesn’t include enough standard safety features, which seems like an oversight. The NHTSA gave it a five-star overall safety rating, though.

MSRP range: $35,795 – $42,395

There are not too many extra small luxury SUVs to choose from, but this list should get you started. BMW, Audi, and Mercedes know what it takes to build a luxury vehicle, and these options don’t stray from that formula. Cadillac could use a bit of an improvement on the XT4, but it isn’t a big seller for the brand.
