There are many things to consider when looking for a new SUV. This is especially true when it comes to large SUVs. Unfortunately, it’s the case because large SUVs tend to be more expensive and can also be a bit more limiting when it comes to choices. So here are three of the best large SUVs with relatively high fuel economy.

The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe Diesel is one of the best large SUVs by mpg. According to reports, the vehicle gets an average of 21 miles per gallon in the city and 28 on the highway. Of course, there are smaller SUVs that are better in this regard, but this is pretty great for a true large SUV. For comparison, the non-diesel version gets 16 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway.

According to Chevrolet, the 2023 Tahoe Diesel has a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine. It has a 10-speed automatic transmission, and the torque is 460 lb-ft. Additionally, the 2023 Tahoe is loaded with features such as hands-free driving and an incredible use of interior technology. Overall, it’s easily one of the best large SUVs for more reasons than one.

Unfortunately, the version that uses regular fuel gets an average of 16 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway. This figure is pretty standard for most SUVs of this size.

Regarding performance, the 2023 GMC Yukon Diesel is similar to the Tahoe. It also has a 3.0-liter turbo diesel engine with a maximum output of 277 horsepower and a torque of 460 lb-ft. This engine option is only available on the Denali, Denali Ultimate, STL, and SLE trims. This is easily one of the most fuel efficient SUVs for its class.

Though a bit less efficient, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia is also one of the best large SUVs by mpg. Regarding fuel economy, one of the best things about the Sequoia is that all trims are hybrid. The base model gets an average of 21 miles per gallon in the city and 24 on the highway.

Regarding performance, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia has a hybrid 3.5-liter V6 engine with a maximum output of 437 hp. It’s rear-wheel drive and uses a 10-speed automatic transmission. Some trims of the SUV are four-wheel drive. The Sequoia is easily one of the most fuel-efficient non-diesel large SUVs. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s a well trusted SUV from one of the top automakers.
