Ford has a reputation for producing long-lasting SUVs, and these are some of the best. The best Ford SUVs for 2023 include the Bronco Sport, the Expedition, and the all-electric Mustang Mach-E. Even though these are all sport utility vehicles, the top SUVs are all quite different.

One of the best Ford SUVs for 2023 includes the Bronco Sport

When MotorTrend ranked the best Ford SUVs for 2023, the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport was the highest-rated option in the bunch. The Bronco Sport starts at only $29,215 and is one of the more off-road capable options on the market. Drivers say the Bronco is comfortable, and the cabin is quiet. That makes it a good everyday vehicle for the family, too.

Ford’s base engine for the 2023 Bronco Sport is a 1.5L turbo engine that gets 181 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque. That offers about 25 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. There is an available 2.0L engine with 250 hp that is available, but it drops fuel economy to 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

The newest Ford CoPilot 360 suite adds adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. These systems helped the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety award the Bronco Sport with its Top Safety Pick Plus award.

The Mustang Mach-E is another one of the best Ford SUVs for 2023

Even though the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E is an all-electric SUV, it has proven to be a popular option for drivers. This Ford SUV has a higher starting cost of $45,995 but a driving range of 247 miles or more. For those who want more range, the new Premium trim would be a good choice with the extended-range battery.

This year’s base model is the 2023 Mustang Mach-E Select, with single-motor rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive. With rear-wheel drive, the Mach-E gets 247 miles, and the all-wheel drive version gets 224 miles. Ford Co-Pilot360 driver assist technology is included, with the same grouping of safety systems.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn’t fully tested the 2023 version yet, but the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety made it a Top Safety Pick winner. While it is one of the best Ford SUVs for 2023, it is also a safe option.

The Ford Expedition is holding strong

The 2023 Ford Expedition nameplate is one of the older options, but that doesn’t mean it is outdated. Starting at $53,875 this year, the Expedition can seat between five and eight passengers. It is more comfortable than in previous years and handles well on the road.

For 2023, the Expedition is powered by a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine. Drivers can choose from rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, but all options get 380 hp with 470 lb-ft of torque. On the Timberline and Stealth Edition, a tune helps reach 380 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy sits at 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

Standard driver assist features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, and automatic high beams. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2023 Ford Expedition a five-star safety rating.

There are more vehicles in the automaker’s lineup, but these are the best Ford SUVs for 2023. Ford has many other sport utility vehicles, trucks, and sedans that are impressive, too. If you have been interested in one of the Ford vehicles but haven’t been able to get ahold of one, the automaker has been ramping up production to meet demand.
