3 of the Best 2022 Toyota RAV4 Trims You Need to Consider

The best 2022 Toyota RAV4 trim levels

There are plenty of reasons to consider buying a 2022 Toyota RAV4. It’s a well-rounded option with an upscale interior and a comfortable ride. It has a unique, confident look with diverse powertrain options. 

As the best-selling vehicle in America, the RAV4 offers plenty of options, from fuel-efficient hybrids to the TRD Pro model for off-roading. There are six trim levels to consider, then the hybrid offers more options, and there’s the RAV4 Prime! 

Where do you get started?! Edmunds recommends a version of each of the three models with an affordable price, efficient performance, and electrifying performance. 

1. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XLE premium 

The Hybrid XLE Premium trim is one of the best 2022 Toyota RAV4 models to consider. It’s only $1,150 more than the gas-powered equivalent and includes AWD. The RAV4 XLE Premium costs $34,650, including the $1,215 destination charge. 

The hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 40 mpg combined, while the gas-powered model gets about 29 mpg. It also provides 219 hp and instant torque without cutting into the cargo space. Luxurious amenities include a power sunroof, a power rear liftgate, chrome wheels, simulated leather upholstery, and more. 

2. The RAV4 XLE Premium 

If you aren’t in a 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid model, that’s fine. The XLE Premium level can provide $2,550 in savings compared to the Hybrid version. It starts at about $32,100, including the destination charge. However, all-wheel drive isn’t included with this price. 

With front-wheel drive, the RAV4 XLE Premium gets an EPA-estimated 30 mpg, which is pretty great. But you may miss some of the instant torque provided by the hybrid. The engine pumps out 203 hp. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.0 seconds. That speed is adequate but a bit slower than rivals. 

3. The RAV4 Prime

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). This is the most efficient and sporty choice. It uses electric power and gas. You can drive about 42 miles on electric power alone before gas kicks in. 

It gets an EPA-estimated 38 mpg once the battery is depleted. Also, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.6 seconds because it pumps out 302 hp. 

But the battery back does eat into its cargo space a little. The Prime offers up to 33.2 cubic feet of luggage space, while other models provide up to 37.6 cubic feet. 

The RAV4 Prime starts at $41,015, including the destination fee. But this model may be eligible for the $7,500 federal income tax credit depending on where you live. State and local incentives might be available too. 

The Prime SE trim can save you about $3,324 compared to the Prime XSE. But the XSE has simulated leather upholstery, a larger touchscreen, a wireless charging pad, and other optional features.
