Multi-terrain select helps the 2023 Toyota RAV4 conquer any terrain

Multi-Terrain Select is designed to optimize traction and control by adjusting the vehicle’s performance parameters according to different off-road conditions. It is available in the Adventure and TRD Off-Road trims.

With the Multi-Terrain Select, drivers can choose from four modes: mud & sand, rock & dirt, snow, and normal. Each mode adjusts the throttle response, traction control, and braking system to suit the specific terrain.

In mud & sand mode, for example, the RAV4 adjusts its throttle response to prevent wheel spin while optimizing the traction control. Rock & dirt mode optimizes the throttle response for better control over uneven surfaces, ensuring a smoother ride.

Snow mode adapts the RAV4’s performance to slippery conditions, providing improved stability and handling. And finally, normal mode offers balanced performance for everyday driving.

Dynamic torque vectoring AWD with rear driveline disconnect

The dynamic torque vectoring all-wheel drive (AWD) system with rear driveline disconnect is available in the Adventure and Limited trims of the 2023 RAV4. This advanced AWD system enhances both on-road stability and off-road performance.

The system continuously monitors road conditions, distributing torque between the front and rear wheels to optimize traction and stability. In normal driving situations, the system primarily sends power to the front wheels to maximize fuel efficiency. However, when additional traction is needed, such as during off-road adventures or slippery conditions, the system can automatically send power to the rear wheels.

The Rear Driveline Disconnect feature further enhances efficiency and fuel economy by disconnecting the rear wheels when AWD is not required. The RAV4 can conserve energy and provide better fuel efficiency during on-road driving by reducing the driveline drag.

Multi-link rear suspension

The 2023 RAV4 incorporates a multi-link rear suspension system to enhance on-road comfort and off-road capability. This feature is available across multiple trims, including the Adventure, Limited, and XSE Hybrid.

The multi-link rear suspension offers several benefits. It provides better wheel articulation, allowing each wheel to move independently. This suspension system also contributes to a smoother ride on uneven surfaces by absorbing bumps and minimizing body roll. It enhances the RAV4’s towing capacity by distributing weight more evenly.

Advantages of the RAV4’s off-road comfort

The Toyota RAV4 stands out in its class when it comes to off-road comfort. While many SUVs prioritize ruggedness and capability, the RAV4 goes a step further by ensuring a comfortable ride even in challenging off-road conditions.

The RAV4’s off-road comfort can be attributed to its thoughtful design and engineering. This SUV features a spacious and well-appointed cabin, providing ample legroom, headroom, and cargo space for both drivers and passengers. The seats are designed to offer excellent support and cushioning, reducing fatigue during long off-road journeys.
