A trucker bought an 18-wheeler in 1999 with only 28 miles on it. Still in operation today, he revealed the staggering mileage of the truck, which he still drives every day and never plans to sell.
Truck drivers go thousands of miles in their lifetime, but what works best for them is a reliable and comfortable machine that will run all day and night without a hiccup. An account by the name Chris Kuna Drive on Facebook showcases the real driver life in his videos through interviews with truckers. He describes his profile as a “trucking jobs platform for US citizens and green card holders only.”
The personal accounts offer an insight into a way of life that one may not have heard of before. One such interview caught our attention, where the driver revealed his truck had traveled 3.5 million miles! When asked what year model his truck was, he said, “1999.” That means as of today, the truck is 27 years old!

Asked how many miles it had on it, he said, “three and a half million.” The owner went on to say that he had bought it brand new:
“It had 28 miles on it when I bought it. Caterpillar engine. Same motors in there as when I bought it.”
Curiously, the interviewer asked how many overhauls the truck had gone through. The owner said “three” and revealed that it had an 18-speed transmission.
When quizzed about how many more miles he was going to put on before he got rid of the truck, the owner replied that he was not going to part ways with it, despite revealing his plans to retire this year. He said:
“I don’t know, man. I’ll never get rid of it. I should retire this year, but I don’t know. See how it goes.”
The old owner’s bond with his truck is likely the reason he doesn’t intend to part ways with it. Some noteworthy reactions in the comments offered more information, while others commended the high mileage. They are stated below:
Someone drew his business plan in the comments:
“Dude is making bank off that truck probably bought it for $80,000 brand new plus $60,000 for 3 overhauls $140,000 and it probably made $2 million profit .”
This person exposed a trucker’s lie:
“You know how many old people I truck around that tell me they are going to ‘retire this year’ and they never do. I honestly think that’s the biggest lie truckers say is that they are going to quit or they are going to “retire this year””
A little help from another user:
“For anyone curious about how many miles a year he did it’s 129,629”
Some more math:
“So like about 1 million miles on every engine overhaul”
