259k Honda SUVs face a recall due to brake problems

Over 259,000 Honda SUVs and cars have a potentially dangerous recall related to brake defects. The brake pedal may shift out of position. This interfere with the driver’s ability to slow down or come to a stop.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall includes 2-23 – 2025 Honda Pilot SUVs, 2021 – 2025 Acura TLX cars, and 2023 – 2025 Acura MDX SUVs.

The brake pedal pivot pin in these vehicles may not have been properly secured during production. As a result, the pedal might shift out of place and could cause unintended acceleration. This increases the risk of accidents and injuries.

Plus, the defect may cause an abnormal brake pedal feel, illuminate the brake malfunction light on the dash, or cause the brake lights to remain lit even when you aren’t braking.

To correct this issue, visit a local Honda dealership. Technicians will inspect your vehicle and replace the brake assembly if needed, free of charge.

Owners of Honda SUVs at risk will be notified via mail. Letters will be sent out on July 28. You can also enter your V.I.N. on the NHTSA site or the Honda Recall lookup to see if your car is included under this recall.

Honda now uses a camera sensor to verify if the pivot pin has been staked during production. This prevents the problem from occurring.
