The 2026 Dodge Charger R/T has a delay
This is a sad day for electric car fans. The entry-level 2026 Dodge Charger R/T has been delayed. It might not return until 2027, if it makes a comeback at all.
Now the two-door Charger Daytona Scat Pack is the only option representing this classic muscle car at the moment. But big things are planned for its future, including a return to gas-powered engines.
According to CBC, the four-door model will arrive during the second half of the year. The Charger R/T is built at the Windsor Assembly Plant in Canada.
This is also where the Chrysler Pacifica minivan is made. Reportedly, the change won’t impact jobs at the plant. The decision to postpone the base model was made as Stellantis continues to monitor the impacts of new tariffs.
Also, could low sales be a culprit? These EVs haven’t gotten off to a popular start, as drivers know the Dodge Charger is going back to gas.
They might be waiting for the glorious HEMI V8 to return before buying. Also, the Sixpack models are pretty exciting with twin-turbo inline-six power.
It’s expected to utilize the high-output Hurricane engine which provides the Ram 1500 with 540 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque. The standard version cranks out 420 hp. The Ram 1500 might get the HEMI V8 as well.
