The 2025 Chevy Colorado just dropped 1 affordable engine option
We are gathered here today to say goodbye to one Chevy Colorado engine. The engine that is being discontinued is a reliable Chevrolet option, but it might not be missed. While it provided lower prices, it was seen as a bit weak.
The 2025 Chevy Colorado drops 1 engine option
It’s time to say goodbye to the weakest Chevy Colorado engine option available. The 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine has two different outputs. The variant known as the Turbo with 237 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque is no longer available.
Instead, the Colorado is only available with the high-output variant with 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, the Colorado can tow up to 7,700 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,490 lbs.
Now the Colorado only has one engine option available. In 2023, Chevy dropped the middle-child. The Turbo Plus engine variant with 310 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque got the axe. As Chevrolet continues to trim the fat, it now only has one configuration.
According to Motor 1, Chevrolet hasn’t shared why it has continued to make cuts to the mid-size truck. But most drivers decided to pay the $1,285 cost to upgrade to the more powerful engine in 2024.
Perhaps the move also enhances the building process as both engine options were produced on the same assembly line. The 2024 model had an MSRP of $28,400 and the 2025 truck starts at $31,900.
That’s a $3,500 price increase. Plus, the MSRP doesn’t include the $1,995 destination fee, taxes, or title fee.
