It’s almost time for the Ram 1500 EV to arrive, and it will do things a bit differently. Perhaps you shared your ideas with the ongoing Ram Revolution to help create the best electric truck possible. Check out what feature makes a significant difference for the 2025 Ram 1500 REV

What is the 2025 Ram 1500 REV?

The 2054 Ram 1500 REV is the official name for the upcoming electric Ram truck. REV may refer to the Range Electric Paradigm Breaker (REPB). The REPB is a fancy term for the range extender that may involve a gas generator. But it’s also a Revolution in the truck industry!

The Ram 1500 REV would have an advantage over rivals such as the Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevy Silverado 1500 EV, and GMC Hummer EV. It would ease range anxiety with the ability to travel if you run out of charge. We’ve seen Telsa models running with gas generators after they run out of charge.

Also, it could come in handy while towing since electric trucks tend to lose tons of range while pulling trailers. Cold weather and inclement road conditions can reduce the battery’s charge as well. Perhaps a heat pump could also help with this problem.

How does the Ram REV system work?

The 2025 Ram 1500 REV could stand for Range Extended Vehicle. This rumor is based on the fact that Stellantis recently got a trademark filed for this term with the United States Patent Trademark Office (USPTO). It’s a bit easier to say and remember than REPB.

It’s possible that the Ram 1500 REV could feature a smaller displacement gasoline-powered engine that acts as a generator to recharge the batteries. It could be similar to how the Chevy Volt used to operate. But hopefully, it will be better executed.

This would mean that the engine wouldn’t power the wheels at all. It would come on to power the batteries when the charge gets low. Perhaps it would kick in while towing or off-roading too. It could help power the truck in freezing temperatures too.

It’s possible that the RAM 1500 REV could have different battery options based on trim levels. For example, the basic work truck model might not get the ranger extender or the larger battery pack. However, the Ram RAV Tungsten is the cream of the crop.

It’s the model with the most luxurious features and will probably have the most range. Currently, Ram is targeting about 500 miles of range per charge, while the Ford F-150 Lightning maxes out at roughly 320 miles.

Clues about the 2025 Ram 1500 REV have been kept under wraps, but former RAM CEO, Mike Koval, shared that the Ram 1500 EV will outperform rivals regarding towing. So, it will need to tow over 11,000 lbs to beat the Rivian R1T.

The Ford F-150 Lightning cranks out up to 580 hp, and the Chevy Silverado 1500 EV could deliver up to 754 hp. It’s unclear how much power the Ram 1500 BEV will provide.

Stellantis has been waiting to reveal the new Ram electric truck to make it better than the competition. The truck rides on the Stellantis STLA architecture, which is a scalable platform that could support the batteries necessary for more range.

We will learn more soon! The Ram 1500 REV made its debut at the New York Auto Show back in the spring. As the release date for 2025 inches closer, we could get more clues and teasers.
