The Turbo and Turbo S models utilize a 3.3-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid battery system. This gives the Turbo models 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, while the Turbo S versions offer 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

The PHEV models utilize a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and an electric motor to combine and produce 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. All Mazda CX-90s require premium fuel.

5. Finally, more gears in a Mazda SUV transmission

Mazda is one of the last brands to ditch six-speed automatic transmissions. The CX-90 is the first Mazda with more than six gears, giving owners an impressive 8-speed automatic transmission for the Turbo and Turbo S powertrains. This new transmission utilized a wet clutch pack which is more compact, trimming the transmission size by one foot compared to a conventional torque converter.

Choose the Mazda CX-90 Turbo S in Premium Plus trim, and you’ll think you’ve gotten into the wrong vehicle. Is this really a Mazda SUV?
