Lexus just introduced two new SUV models. One model is a new Lexus GX model year. The other model that Lexus teased is an entirely new nameplate. The 2024 Lexus TX features a new Lexus design and achieves several milestones for the luxury brand.

2024 Lexus TX: What is it?

The 2024 Lexus TX is a midsize three-row luxury SUV. It’s no surprise that the TX is being introduced following the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander’s reveal. The 2024 TX is a roomy SUV that prioritizes space and comfort for three rows of passengers.

The new Lexus SUV rides on the GA-K platform, a platform that’s designed for the best weight distribution possible. It comes in four grades: Standard, Premium, Luxury, and F SPORT PERFORMANCE. The midsize luxury SUV has three powertrain options. Lexus offers a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a 2.4-liter turbocharged hybrid powertrain system, or a 3.5-liter V6 plug-in hybrid powertrain system under the hood of the new TX.

What makes the 2024 Lexus TX special?

Lexus claims the new 2024 Lexus TX is “made specifically for the North American market.” It’s the first Lexus vehicle ever assembled at Toyota’s Motor Manufacturing plant in Indiana. The SUV’s defining characteristic is its spaciousness. Its creation makes sense strategically because midsize three-row SUVs like the Kia Telluride have gotten wildly popular.

The Toyota Grand Highlander is a clear answer to the three-row Telluride. The new TX appears to be the luxury version of the Grand Highlander. So, Toyota is targeting consumers searching for roomy midsize SUV models. The discontinuation of larger models like the Land Cruiser is a sign that the industry as a whole is moving away from expensive, gas guzzlin’ full-size SUVs.

The Grand Highlander and Lexus TX both have hybrid powertrain options. So, Toyota is considering fuel efficiency and the reduction of carbon emissions. The Lexus TX could play a vital role in the brand’s lineup. Are full-size SUVs toast?

How much cargo space does the Lexus TX have?

According to Lexus, the 2024 Lexus TX has 57.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the third row folded flat. It has 97 cubic feet of cargo space with the second row folded flat. The TX is among the roomiest in its segment. Lexus claims that every seat in the luxury midsize three-row SUV feels like the best seat.

There’s still plenty to learn about the Lexus TX, but thus far, it seems like a promising option for drivers with large families. It probably isn’t the best daily driver for consumers who regularly travel with less than four vehicle occupants. As far as road trips go, the TX is built for ’em. As usual, Lexus takes Toyota’s practicality and adds style and flair, creating a nameplate that’s sure to make an impact in its segment.

The age of midsize three-row SUVs is upon us. Will the 2024 Lexus TX get a warm reception, or will it take some time for consumers to feel it out? It will arrive in the fall of 2023.
