People often consider the 2024 Chevrolet Trax to be among the top small SUVs. The same is true for the 2023 model. Not only is it affordable, but it’s a modern and eye-catching SUV. However, one woman’s experience with it left her wishing she’d bought a Toyota SUV due to the severe mechanical issues. Perhaps she should have gone with the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross.

This 2024 Chevrolet Trax owner has engine problems despite it being among the top small SUVs

According to Daily Dot, a TikToker who posts under the name Magster2222 bought a brand new 2024 Chevrolet Trax after graduating college. Previously, she’d owned a Chevrolet Aveo and thought this new SUV from the automaker would be a solid choice. However, after only about five months and less than 13,000 miles, she started to experience issues.

The 2024 Chevy Trax isn't perfect and some would consider the Toyota Cross Corolla instead

According to one of her videos on the topic, the engine in her 2024 Chevrolet Trax misfired, and she was left stranded. She had the SUV towed to a mechanic and was told that a faulty spark plug caused the car to misfire. Simple enough, but the same thing happened the very next day, and they blamed it on the fuel injectors.

Because of needing to order the parts, the TikToker used a rental from the dealership for about 14 days.If you’re assuming the problem ends there, think again. After getting the 2024 Chevrolet Trax back, Magster says the engine “blew up.” The dealership told her that it was internal engine failure. Due to the car’s warranty, the automaker is replacing the faulty engine.

However, she felt uncomfortable with the 2024 Chevrolet Trax and wanted GM to do a buyback, which they refused. Now, she’s posting TikTok videos to get the automaker’s attention. Also, the car has been in the shop for more than 45 days. Many of the comments on her videos say she should have bought a Toyota, and probably agrees.

Even the top small SUVs have issues

The 2024 Chevrolet Trax is one of the top small SUVs for several reasons. The Trax is a trendy SUV that comes at an affordable price. However, these things don’t promise a worry-free ownership experience. In fact, there are several posts from owners on Chevy Trax forums about various problems with the compact SUV.

Some of the most common complaints are about the transmission. However, there are also reports that the cooling system leaks and can cause engine failure. People also complain about the Trax’s low acceleration and even describe it as feeling unstable when driving. The 2024 Trax also has low customer satisfaction scores.

However, readers should note that many people who own various models of the Trax have had good experiences with them. Still, many owners are like Magster and wish they’d bought a Toyota. Maybe the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross would have been a better choice.
