Announcements of the new Chevy Blazer EV included a look at a police version that could be heading to law enforcement officials near you. The new electric Blazer is set for the 2024 model year, and it should be an exciting vehicle to drive. While we’re excited about this new SUV, many police officers will be thrilled with a new fleet of pursuit vehicles.

Which version of the Chevy Blazer EV will police use?

Chevrolet announced the version that becomes the Chevy Blazer EV PPV which is the SS model. This new SS version is the most powerful version, and the electric pursuit vehicle will have the largest Ultium battery pack in the lineup.

How much power does the Blazer PPV offer?

Police versions of the Chevy Blazer will deliver 557 horsepower and 648 lb-ft of torque. More importantly, this pursuit vehicle can drive for 290 miles on a full charge, which ensures it won’t need to be charged before hunting down a suspect.

The same front Brembo brakes offered in public-use Blazer SUV models will also make it to the police versions. Of course, the interior design offers what law enforcement officials need in the PPV models, while we regular folk will have the Chevrolet-designed interior appointments.

What makes this police vehicle special?

This isn’t the first time that Chevrolet has developed a vehicle for police officers, but it is the first purpose-built EV from the brand. Some officers already experience the benefits of an EV as their police vehicle and use a Tesla Model Y. The lack of space in these Tesla models could mean replacing them with the new Chevy Blazer made for police officers.

How many trims will the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV include?

There will be four trims offered once the entire Blazer EV lineup arrives. The 2LT and RS models should hit the market first, with the SS arriving before the end of 2023. The base, 1LT model, is the last to arrive and might not be available until the early part of 2024.

How much will the EV Blazer cost?

We don’t have pricing for the Chevy Blazer EV PPV yet, but the non-police version will begin at a starting price of $44,995. The Chevy Blazer EV SS costs a little more than $65,000, giving us a range for this new electric SUV.

Early indications tell us the RS model will offer the greatest driving range and ride on 21-inch wheels. This trim also has sporty styling and a package of features that make it a great fit whether you’re toting kids to school or ready for some fun on the road.

Regardless of the model you choose, local law enforcement officers will receive the Chevy Blazer EV SS, which is the most powerful version of this electric SUV. Criminals beware; this Blazer spells silent electric capture for you.
