The fact that the Blazer EV will not qualify for a federal electric tax incentive makes it even less appealing from an affordability standpoint. The Blazer EV is still within the same price range as many of its competitors, but rivals will benefit from a $7,500 tax credit.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is currently the best electric SUV of the year and the World Car of the Year. The 2022 Ioniq 5 starts at $39,950. After the EV tax incentive, its price is closer to $32,450. That’s quite the difference from the entry-level Blazer EV’s starting price. Keep in mind that the Blazer EV should be significantly more spacious as well.

So, the Blazer EV is reasonable, but there will be several more affordable electric SUVs in its vehicle segment when it finally arrives. Now that we’ve wrapped our heads around where the Blazer EV’s pricing stands in the broader EV space, what about its performance specs?

The gas-powered Chevrolet Blazer isn’t exactly a threat to segment leaders in the midsize SUV segment. The final Blazer EV trim, the Blazer EV SS will make 557 horsepower and 648 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet’s new midsize electric SUV will pique the interest of plenty of Americans looking to make the switch from gas to electric. Will there be an electric Silverado?

The Chevrolet Blazer EV won’t be the only electric Chevrolet model hitting the market in the next few years. The Chevy Silverado EV is an upcoming electric truck meant to challenge the Ford F-150 Lightning and Ram 1500 EV.

Like Ford and Ram, Chevrolet is also electrifying its full-size pickup truck model to get with the times. The Silverado EV seems like it has what it takes to compete with the top of its vehicle segment when it arrives. The most capable model is the Silverado EV RST final trim.

The Silverado EV RST makes an astonishing 664 horsepower and over 780 lb-ft of torque. Chevy is looking to produce some of the best electric vehicles on the market. Will the Blazer EV meet expectations?
