The 2023 Toyota Tundra is positioned to compete with some of the best full-size trucks on the market. The Tundra’s recent redesign arguably makes it more competitive than ever before. The 2023 Tundra comes in several different trim levels. Which trims should you get, want, and pass on?

Want: The 2023 Toyota Tundra Capstone

The 2023 Toyota Tundra Capstone starts at $75,245. It uses a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine and an electric motor to make 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. The Tundra Capstone achieves 19 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon on the highway.

The Tundra Capstone comes standard with a power tilt/slide panoramic roof with a power sunshade, a smart key system with push-button start, and instrument panel/door ambient lighting. It also includes dark American walnut wood-grain interior trim with a backlit “CAPSTONE” instrument panel badge and metal speaker grilles.

The 2023 Toyota Tundra Capstone features a panoramic view monitor, a wireless smartphone charger, and a front 12-volt power outlet. It also comes with semi-aniline leather-trimmed seats with premium contrast stitching, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel. The Tundra Capstone is the trim to want because of its luxurious standard features. It’s the most refined Toyota Tundra option, but there are Tundra trims that offer more value for the money.

The 2023 Toyota Tundra SR5 is the next trim after the base model Tundra. While the Tundra SR provides decent value for the money, the SR5 offers better standard features for a price that’s still affordable to many drivers.

The Toyota Tundra SR5 starts at $42,470. It comes standard with heated power outside mirrors, a smart key system with push-button start, and full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control. The Tundra SR5 also features hill start assist control, a tire pressure monitor system, and a front 12-volt auxiliary power outlet.

Get the 2023 Toyota Tundra SR5 trim over other Toyota Tundra trims because it comes with features that improve the overall ownership experience. The Tundra SR5 may be pricey compared to other full-size trucks, but it provides feat value for the money. Car and Driver recommends the SR5 over other trims.

Pass on these Toyota Tundra trims

There are many Tundra trims to choose from, but the full-size pickup truck can get pretty expensive. This is an issue for many drivers because the base model Tundra is already more expensive than some of its more popular rivals, like the 2023 Ford F-150 and 2023 Ram 1500.

Pass on expensive trims like the Limited and 1794 Edition because competitors offer better full-size pickup trucks at more affordable prices. The 2023 Toyota Tundra may be a huge improvement over past model years since its redesign, but it still can’t beat models at the top of its segment. The pickup has better fuel economy than previous model years, a more attractive exterior, and a more refined cabin, but Ford and Ram have been producing the best large pickup trucks in the game for years.
