Too often, car brands try to get you excited about a small appearance upgrade or a slight bump in fuel mileage, both of which don’t truly impact your driving experience. That’s not what the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback does. Yes, there are appearance changes and new colors, but there’s much more to the improvements to this fun and active nearly-hot hatch.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes to the new 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback

Safety is always at the top of the priority list for Toyota. This new hatchback offers the latest safety tech to ensure you feel safe while driving this fun and active car. The TSS 3.0 system includes upgraded versions of:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Lane Tracing Assist
  • Road Sign Assist
  •  Automatic High Beams

New additions to this package of safety features include:

  • Proactive Driving Assist
  • Obstacle Anticipation Assist
  • Deceleration Assist

Blind-spot monitoring is standard at the XSE trim level and available for the SE trim.

These safety improvements allow you to feel more secure and confident while enjoying features that help avoid collisions, even when you don’t respond to some alerts.

Yes, most automakers improve the style in some way, and Toyota gives you a few items to admire. The 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback brings an updated front grille and rear bumper with some optional silver accents to give you a classier style. There’s a new set of premium large daytime running lights, and the headlights and taillights come from the new GR Corolla.

If you choose the SE model, you’ll find new 10-spoke 16-inch aluminum wheels, while the XSE rides on a set of 18-inch graphite-colored aluminum wheels.

Toyota didn’t stop with the styling updates for this car. This hatchback has two new colors made for the Corolla Hatchback. These new colors are Blue Crush Metallic and Inferno. These colors replace two from last year to go with the other names that carry over for this car.

Both trims of this car also add two USB-C ports in the rear to allow your passengers to charge their devices while diving. The XSE adds more tech with a Qi-compatible wireless charging pad for front-seat passengers.

Should you have concert-level sounds in this small car?

Toyota thinks you should, and if you choose the XSE trim, you’ll find an impressive JBL Premium Audio system with an 800-watt/8-speaker setup available. This system allows you to have the thumping sounds you desire during your drive in this fun and active hatchback.

The multi-link rear suspension makes this car agile but ensures occupants are comfortable during every ride.

Overall, yes, this hatchback is a true driver’s car. It also makes sense for daily driving, making it a good value. When you want a small car that’s fun and lets loose, but is also docile during your commute, the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback should be on your list.
