The 2023 Toyota Camry has landed. After wondering whether the Camry would be redesigned and really hoping that it would, it’s a little disappointing to see the latest model come out as part of the Camry’s eighth generation. But, there’s still plenty to look forward to with the new model. Read on for 2023 Toyota Camry features, prices, and specs.

2023 Toyota Camry engine and performance specs

Standard power for the Camry comes from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with over 200 horsepower. This engine has powered some of the most reliable Toyota Camry years—it may not be thrilling, but it’s reliable.

A 301-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine is standard on the 2023 Camry TRD and optional on the XLE and XSE trim levels. All engines pair to Toyota’s Direct Shift eight-speed automatic transmission.

The new Camry’s Toyota Hybrid System (THS II) combines the Camry’s standard four-cylinder engine with dual electric motors for a total system output of 208 horsepower.

Does the Toyota Camry have AWD? For 2023, this sedan continues to offer all-wheel drive on all of its major trim levels. It’s one of a handful of few midsize economy sedans on the market to offer all-wheel drive, though that seems to be changing.

2023 Toyota Camry interior features and cabin design

Toyota describes its Camry interior as a cabin that “melds functionality, elegant styling, and impeccable fit and finish.” That seems like wording that may better fit a Lexus or an Audi, but we’ll give this to the Camry—it does look pretty good for a new car under $30,000.

The new Camry interior is offered in Ash, Macadamia, or Black. It’s not specified yet, but my assumption is that Ash and Black will be available cloth colors, while Macadamia and Black will be leather colors.

The Camry XSE offers an exclusive Cockpit Red interior color scheme to lend some weight to its “sporty” reputation. The premium 2023 Camry XLE trim level has a cool, textured herringbone seat pattern. Toyota hasn’t yet released information about the new Camry TRD and whether it will feature a unique interior.

All models come standard with an attractive, floating touchscreen (7.0 inch or 9.0 inch available) that displays audio, navigation, and smartphone connectivity apps. Toyota’s base audio system is underwhelming at best. However, you can opt for a JBL® 800-watt, 9-speaker Premium Audio system with a subwoofer on higher trim levels in the 2023 Camry lineup.

The best-selling Camry will continue with the eighth generation for another year. Toyota officially released the new 2023 Camry with specs and details on May 16, and as of 9/14/2022, you can build and price the new Camry on the Toyota site.

The new Camry will be available in its usual run of trim levels, including a freshly updated Camry Nightshade Edition. New models will include:

  • 2023 Camry LE and LE Hybrid
  • Camry XLE and XLE Hybrid
  • New Camry SE and SE Hybrid
  • Camry SE Nightshade and SE Hybrid Nightshade
  • New Camry XSE and XSE Hybrid

The Toyota Camry Hybrid offers more available variations and configurations than many of its rivals. There’s an eco-friendly, gas-sipping Camry Hybrid for everyone.

The 2023 Camry’s top rivals include the upcoming 2023 Honda Accord, the Mazda6, Subaru Legacy, Kia K5, Hyundai Sonata, and Nissan Altima.

We’re waiting on a few more details for the new 2023 Toyota Camry, but this is plenty to work with to compare it to other affordable new cars. I have a hunch that this will be the last model in the Camry’s eighth generation, and we’ll be seeing an all-new model and a complete redesign for 2024. Check back with me next year.
