The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek and Crosstrek Hybrid were released in June 2022. New models will begin showing up on lots at Subaru dealerships throughout the summer and fall of 2022. However, availability may depend on production pace and the supply chain. Shoppers that want a specific color or trim level also have the option to build and order a new Crosstrek via Subaru’s website. The Subaru Crosstrek is built alongside the Forester, WRX, and BRZ at Subaru’s plant in Gunma, Japan.

How much does the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek cost?

The starting price of the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek crossover SUV ranges from $23,645 MSRP for the Base trim up to $36,845 MSRP for the Hybrid trim. The 2023 Crosstrek costs slightly more than the 2022 Crosstrek, which has a starting price range of $23,145 MSRP for Base trim up to $36,345 for the Hybrid trim.

2023 Crosstrek specs: Engine options, gas mileage, 0-60 mph acceleration, and towing

The 2023 Crosstrek offers three engine options: a 2.0-liter flat four-cylinder, a 2.5-liter flat four-cylinder, and a plug-in hybrid. The 2.0-liter engine generates 152 horsepower, while the 2.5-liter engine produces 182 horsepower. For the Crosstrek Hybrid, the total system output is 148 horsepower. Also, the Crosstrek Hybrid has an estimated electric-only driving range of 17 miles.

With its slow acceleration, don’t expect to win any drag races with the Crosstrek, especially for the base engine. It completes the 0-60 mph sprint in 9.2 seconds with the 2.0-liter engine, 7.5 seconds with the 2.5-liter engine, and 8.3 seconds with the plug-in hybrid. 

For efficiency, the gas-powered 2023 Crosstrek has an estimated fuel economy of up to 30 combined mpg. Also, the Crosstrek Hybrid has a gas mileage of up to 35 combined mpg in hybrid mode and 90 combined MPGe in electric mode.

Additionally, all Crosstrek models have a traction-enhancing all-wheel drive system. Plus, with its protective cladding and a ground clearance of 8.7 inches, the Crosstrek is good for off-road adventures. On the towing front, the gas-powered Crosstrek can tow up to 1,500 pounds, while the Crosstrek Hybrid can tow up to 1,000 pounds.

The only major change for the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek is the addition of the Special Edition trim. Offered exclusively in a Desert Khaki exterior paint color, the Crosstrek Special Edition has various unique design features. For the exterior, this includes 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels in Dark Gray finish, as well as a Crystal Black Silica color for the front grille bar, side mirrors, door handles, and antenna. Also, the Crosstrek Special Edition features exterior badges finished in Low Luster Black. 

The unique design elements of the Crosstrek Special Edition continues into the cabin. Notable interior design features include black and red upholstery with red contrast stitching, as well as interior trim accents finished in Low Luster Black.
