Deliveries were initially set for June and July of 2022, but the Rivian R1S’ release date has been delayed. Now, buyers can expect to receive their electric SUV anywhere between October to December 2022. Of course, MotorBiscuit will keep you updated on any release date changes.

What is the range of the Rivian R1S?

According to U.S News & World Report, “Rivian R1S models with the standard battery, which won’t begin delivery until 2024, offer 260 miles of range when mated to the dual-motor system. Models with larger batteries have a maximum EPA-estimated range of about 316 miles.”

Rivian will also have Level 2 Rivian Waypoint chargers. These will be installed in public places, like shopping centers, hotels, and parks. If you decide to charge up at one of these public stations, it will receive approximately 25 miles of range per hour.

Rivian R1S standard interior features

It’s no surprise that the Rivian R1S has many interior features. Features with the Explore package include a 23-speaker sound system by Meridian, navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and large 21-inch alloy wheels with low-rolling-resistance all-season tires.

On the comfort side, you’ll get heated front seats, vegan leather upholstery, and a heated steering wheel. There’s also an onboard air compressor. Some top features are missing, like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – but there are built-in Spotify, and TuneIn apps drivers can use.

How much will the Rivian R1S cost?

How much the Rivian R1S will cost may vary depending on which trim level you decide to go with – but it isn’t cheap. For now, the Adventure pack, and the Large Pack battery, it’s going to cost you around $91,075.

If you don’t mind waiting, the Explore Package, which comes with a Dual-Motor powertrain and Standard Pack battery, will cost you around $73,575. However, it’s still well-equipped and features many safety technologies like adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

Rivian RS1 reviews are in – what’s the verdict?

Reviews of this EV SUV have been mostly positive. Aside from its high price point, it has good on-road comfort and handling. The cabin features nothing but luxury and advanced technology features. Plus, as we said earlier, it’s great for growing families.

A review from Motor Authority states, “No matter what version you choose, you’ll get an electric vehicle with an adventurous spirit, good space, smart features, and immense electric power—all with the peace of mind of emissions-free driving.”
