Lincoln produces snazzy SUV models. Ford’s luxury division knows how to make comfortable and stylish luxury SUVs. The Lincoln Aviator has been around for two decades. Which 2023 Lincoln Aviator trims should you want, get, and pass on?
Want: The 2023 Lincoln Aviator Black Label Grand Touring
The 2023 Lincoln Aviator Black Label Grand Touring is the final Aviator trim level. It also happens to be a plug-in hybrid option. Yup, this Lincoln Aviator is powered by an engine as well as plug-in hybrid tech for ever more power and driving range.
The Lincoln Aviator Black Label Grand Touring starts at a whopping $89,280. It uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 and PHEV tech to make 494 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque. That’s a lot of torque.
The three-row midsize luxury SUV achieves 23 miles per gallon combined. It can travel for 21 miles on just electricity, bringing its total driving range up to 435 miles. Not too shabby for such a large powerhouse.
The appeal of the Black Label Grand Touring is its driving verve. You won’t get this type of performance from any other Lincoln Aviator. Mic drop. There are plenty of reasons to want the Lincoln Aviator Black Label Grand Touring, but let’s move on to the trim that consumers are more likely to get.
Get: The 2023 Lincoln Aviator Reserve
The Lincoln Aviator Black Label Grand Touring has its perks, but shelling out over $90K after taxes and fees may not be the move for you. Luckily, Lincoln offers plenty of more affordable Aviator trim options that still have awesome standard features.
Car and Driver recommends the 2023 Lincoln Aviator Reserve over its other four trim levels. The Aviator Reserve is an upgrade from the base model Aviator Standard.
The 2023 Lincoln Aviator Reserve starts at $58,505. It uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine to make 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. The midsize luxury SUV gets 18 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway.
The Aviator Reserve isn’t as barebones as the Standard base model. It comes with a panoramic sunroof, a 14-speaker sound system, and a 360-degree camera for parking and driving on tricky terrain. The 2023 Lincoln Aviator Reserve trim level ensures a luxury feel without breaking the bank.
Pass on the Lincoln Aviator Standard, Grand Touring, Black Label, and Black Label Grand Touring
Every 2023 Lincoln Aviator provides value in one way or another, but pricing is a huge factor in why some trims just don’t cut the mustard. Pass on the Aviator Standard because it’s too basic for a luxury SUV for some drivers.
The Grand Touring has the same power output as the Reserve, so that makes it a pass for many drivers. The Black Label and Black Label Grand Touring might interest some consumers, but they’re far too expensive for the average driver compared to more popular models. The Lincoln Aviator Reserve is the just right porridge that Goldilocks was looking for. Will the Aviator disrupt luxury midsize SUV rankings in 2023?
