Lexus knows how to make a luxury SUV, and this version is no different. Edmunds looked at the 2023 Lexus RX 350 sport utility vehicle to review its updates. What are the biggest changes buyers will notice in the redesigned SUV?

When it comes down to it, Edmunds didn’t find much to dislike about the 2023 Lexus RX 350. In fact, it attributes three main features that make the Lexus more desirable than similar midsize SUVs. It offers Lexus quality styling, a reasonable and below-average price tag, and the reliability the automaker is known for. While the RX isn’t known for being an exciting ride, Lexus totally redesigned the SUV for 2023.

The touchpad controller is one of the biggest complaints about the RX 350. Edmunds actually calls it the “much-hated touchpad controller.” In previous years, the clunky touchpad controller made it hard to move through the menus. Thanks to its removal, a new digital dashboard replaces the current setup. Buyers can choose from a 9.8-inch or a 14-inch touchscreen display. Two actual buttons allow you to change the temperature. More on the interior updates later.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 comes on the 2023 RX 350

You’ll be happy to know Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard on the 2023 Lexus RX 350. That includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and emergency steering assistance. Lexus also includes lane-keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control, which Edmunds found helpful.

Lexus also has intelligent high beams, which help provide better visibility in many conditions. It can detect when high beams are needed and temporarily turn the lights off when the system senses another vehicle. Lexus has some other Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that go by different names, but all of the systems help make the roads safer.

Road sign assist uses cameras to help provide better information on road signs. The system displays signs and speed limit information on the Head-Up Display.

The interior on this luxury SUV only gets better with age

The interior of the RX 350 looks a lot different after the removal of the touchpad system. Plus, the RX joins the modern era with a new horizontal touchscreen display and a fully digital dashboard. The old display held the SUV back in many ways, but those days are over.

“Everywhere you look it’s a step forward from the previous model and the interior of the RX looks both more youthful and luxurious.”

Edmunds

The RX 350L model offers three rows, and the RX 350h hybrid is obviously the hybrid variant. Two more hybrid options await if you want to go up to the RX 450h and the RX 450hL. Plus, the RX 500h performance hybrid will soon hit the market. In conclusion, Lexus is prepared to get anyone and everyone into the 2023 RX. Labeling the 2023 RX as the “next generation of luxury” sets the bar high, but Lexus seems ready for it.
