2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid: Expected Price, Specs, and Features

Updated on August 2, 2022.

The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid models will roll off the production line as a carry-over model. There isn’t much different from the previous year, according to Hyundai. Rumors claimed the compact, five-passenger SUV was scheduled for a facelift or redesign, but that may be coming in 2024.

It’s unknown if prices will remain the same among trim levels. As far as we know, the XRT appearance package is only available on gas-powered Santa Fe models. Shoppers should expect to see the “new” Santa Fe Hybrid on dealer lots in Fall 2023. However, global supply chain issues may push that back toward the end of the year.

Hyundai calls the Santa Fe the adventurous family SUV. The 2023 model will continue those aggressive aesthetic cues found across the lineup. So, the edgy yet refined exterior is profiled with sharp body lines capped with a wide grille. All this is flanked by T-shaped lighting signatures below thin headlights. Additionally, the rear of the Santa Fe’s architecture is emphasized by a narrow light bar across the width of the bumper. This sits just above the skid plate and features trapezoidal-shaped exhaust cutouts, completing the compact SUV’s lean brawn.

The 2023 Santa Fe Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid models limit exterior options somewhat – including the absence of the XRT appearance option. The top-of-the-range Calligraphy trim adds opulence with stylish 20-inch wheels and a grille finish fit for Louis XVI, but is not offered as a hybrid model.

Hyundai offers the Santa Fe Hybrid in three trim levels, the Blue, SEL Premium, and Limited trims. The 2023 Santa Fe PHEV offers two options: the Selection Convenience and Limited trims. Kelley Blue Book reports probable color updates. But it’s unclear how many of these will be available for the hybrid models. Regardless, the new model year’s Santa Fe will have the same four-spoke steering wheel with various features depending upon which trim level is optioned. Plus, a digital gauge cluster and piano-black center stack infotainment layout.

The base model maintains its handsomely utilitarian look and feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as welcome standards. The higher-end and subsequently more expensive models are equipped with leather upholstery, functional and temperature-controlled seats, and more capable technology. Moreover, each trim level will come with assorted high-tech monitoring, warning, assist, and detection safety features.

The Santa Fe Hybrid powertrain options found in the last model are back for 2023:

  • 1.6-liter I-4 Hybrid with a combined 139 hp and 234 lb-ft torque with a 1.49 kWh battery pack and 44.2 kW motor
  • 1.6-liter Plug-in Hybrid with a combined 139 hp and 234 lb-ft torque with a 13.8 kWh battery pack with a 66.9 kW motor

Every 2023 Santa Fe hybrid model comes standard with all-wheel drive on every trim level. Gas-powered models offer a max towing capacity rated between 3,500 to 5,000 pounds. However, hybrid powertrains can tow up to 2,000 pounds according to Hyundai’s website.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not released a safety assessment for the 2023 Santa Fe. Still, last year’s model was a Top Safety Pick among midsize SUVs, featuring superior rating for their front collision prevention systems, IIHS states.

2023 Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid model trim options

Hyundai has yet to announce pricing on the 2023 Santa Fe. There’s little change from the previous model year and likely the last model year for this generation of Santa Fe. So we expect pricing will be similar across the hybrid and PHEV trim options, if not identical. All things considered, prices are fair when compared to the value they offer in each trim.

Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Trim Levels

  • Blue: $34,300 (MSRP) – Standard features include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, cloth upholstery, power-folding rear seats, a rear-seat reminder, dual-zone automatic climate control, hands-free power lift gate, wireless device charging, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touch screen, satellite radio, HD Radio, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity.
  • SEL Premium: $38,360 (MSRP) – the SEL Premium adds leather upholstery, highway driving assist, a power-adjustable passenger seat, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch touch screen, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon stereo.
  • Limited: $40,710 (MSRP) – the Limited trim adds a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, Remote Smart Parking, surround-view parking tech, and front parking sensors.

Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV Trim Levels

  • SEL Convenience: $40,000 (MSRP) – the SEL Convenience trim serves as the base model for the plug-in hybrid, or PHEV hybrid Santa Fe. This trim includes the same feature package as the Blue trim in the regular hybrid lineup.
  • Limited: $46,010 (MSRP) – this model is the top range PHEV trim level and includes a higher price for the plug-in hybrid powertrain. Other than the difference in powertrain, this model includes the same elements as the Santa Fe Limited Hybrid.
