An appealing aspect of SUVs is the ability to carry people with a generous amount of passenger space — and on this front, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade delivers. It’s larger than the 2023 Hyundai Tucson, which results in a roomier cabin. It has a three-row layout and can seat up to eight passengers, compared to a two-row setup and five passengers in the Tucson.

Also, for total passenger space, the Palisade has a volume of 155.3 cu-ft, while the Tucson only has 108 cu-ft. Plus, the extra passenger space translates to more legroom. The Palisade provides 44.1 inches of legroom for the front seats and 42.4 inches for the second row — compared to 41.4/41.3 inches for the Tucson.

Additionally, there’s more cargo space in the Palisade. It offers a maximum storage capacity of 86.4 cu-ft, while the Tucson has 80.3 cu-ft in total.

The interior is more luxurious in the 2023 Palisade than in the 2023 Tucson

Furthermore, the cabin in the 2023 Hyundai Palisade is more luxurious than in the 2023 Hyundai Tucson. The flagship midsize SUV has a more upscale look and feel — with a more liberal use of high-quality materials.

Also, there are premium interior features that the Palisade offers — but are not available in the Tucson. This includes a massaging function and a thigh cushion extension for the driver’s seat, which maximize comfort and reduce fatigue. Other cabin features include quilted door panels, second-row captain’s chairs, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system, and the Driver Talk in-car intercom.

Plus, the Palisade has a larger touchscreen for the infotainment system (12.3 vs. 10.25 inches). Additionally, unlike the Tucson, the Palisade offers a cooling function for the second-row seats. Also, while the two Hyundai SUVs offer some of the same features, more of them are standard for the Palisade.

Other benefits of the Hyundai Palisade over the Tucson

The 2023 Palisade has some other benefits over the 2023 Tucson. This includes engine output. All Palisade models come equipped with a 3.8-liter V-6 engine, which churns out 291 horsepower. In comparison, the horsepower output for the Tucson is 187 hp for the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, 226 hp for the hybrid, and 261 hp for the plug-in hybrid.

Also, the Palisade is more capable for towing. It can tow up to 5,000 pounds, while the Tucson is limited to 2,000 pounds.

Furthermore, the Palisade is more reliable. J.D. Power gave it a reliability rating of 84/100, compared to 77/100 for the Tucson.

With its roomier cabin, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade has a big advantage over the 2023 Hyundai Tucson. For SUV shoppers that need plenty of space on their journeys, the roomy interior is a crucial consideration.
