Honda’s minivan has five trim models to choose from for 2023. The base version, the EX, starts at $37,340 and comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. Paired with it is a 10-speed automatic transmission. According to Honda’s website, you’ll get a remote engine start, a 7-speaker audio system, a four-way power adjusting front passenger seat, and a 12-way adjusting driver’s seat.

Upgrading to the EX-L gets you the same engine and transmission as all the models. With this trim, however, you can expect a sunroof, leather-trimmed seats with the front ones being heated, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, three USB ports, three 12-volt power outlets, a 12-way driver’s seat (same as the EX model), with two-position memory, and MacPherson front suspension struts all for a beginning price of $40,410.

Next in the trim lineup is the Sport version, which offers mainly cosmetic additions. The front grille and the trims around the windows come in black, along with 19-inch Gloss Black wheels. You will also get premium black leather seating material with red stitching adorning it. As for the price tag, you can expect to pay around $41,210 to start.

Stepping up from that model is the Touring trim, which comes with a $44,450 price tag. With this version, you’ll get 19-inch machine-finished alloy wheels with Shark Grey inserts, a rear seat entertainment screen (10.2 inches), a cabin intercom system, and third-row sunshades.

The top-tier model is the Elite. With this version, you can expect automatic wipers, a hands-free tailgate, a wireless smartphone charging pad,  an 11-speaker audio system, a heated steering wheel, and sound-reducing glass for the side and rear windows. The price begins at $49,470.

The 2023 Honda Odyssey safety features included with this model

All five minivan trims come with the Honda Sensing Safety and Driver Assistance Technology package. This site of useful features is an integrated set of safety aids that will alert the driver of conditions or obstacles on the road that they may not be aware of.

For example, the package comes with a forward collision warning. If the vehicle’s sensors pick up on an animal, another car, or a person in the vehicle’s path that could cause a collision, it will alert you so that you can slow down or maneuver to avoid the object. The Honda Sensing safety package comes with several other features, though. You’ll also get, as standard equipment, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition System, Lane-keeping Assist System, Lane-departure warning, and Road Departure Mitigation System. Driver assistance technologies include Blind-Spot Information with Cross-Traffic Monitor, Rear-Seat Reminder system, and automatic high-beam headlights.

How do advanced driver’s assistance systems work?

Several types of driver’s assistance features newer vehicles come with today. The first one is more of an alerting system, where the car will use its sensors to monitor what’s going on around the vehicle while you’re driving. When something of concern is detected, the car will alert you to that situation, so you can make the necessary adjustments to avoid any accidents.

The other type is active, where the vehicle monitors the area around you. When it detects a possible problem, it overrides your inputs and takes the necessary action. So, if it feels that you’re about to collide with something ahead of you, the vehicle will slow down the speed on its own to avoid hitting the object. It will also make any adjustments through the steering wheel if it feels it’s necessary for you to stay safe.

According to APTIV, the vehicle will use various types of sensors throughout the car and evaluate the information it gathers to determine if an accident is likely to occur. It will use radar technology and several cameras to collect the data needed to determine whether the area surrounding you is safe or not.

The 2023 HondaOdyssey’s safety features promise to be pretty thorough in keeping drivers safe on the road. With its five trims to choose from, you can be assured that you’ll be getting top-notch safety equipment no matter which model you decide to buy.
