Hybrid SUVs are fairly popular among those who want an efficient vehicle that also offers some utility. And Honda has the answer to that in form of the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid. The Hybrid variant of this SUV is available in two different trim levels, and it goes head-to-head with rivals like the Toyota RAV4. So, is the new Honda CR-V Hybrid a hybrid SUV that should be on your radar?

Is the CR-V Hybrid reliable?

The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid is an all-new SUV. But, typically, Honda does have a reputation for producing reliable SUVs. For the 2022 CR-V Hybrid, publications like J.D. Power gave this hybrid SUV a fairly high reliability rating. It will not be surprising if the 2023 model is able to achieve the same things.

Honda is offering complimentary maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles, so that is a factor to consider when buying this hybrid SUV. 

How expensive is the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

In terms of cost, the 2023 CR-V Hybrid has an MSRP of $31,110. In comparison, the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid starts at $29,575. But, the RAV4 is an older vehicle. Honda has fully updated the CR-V for the 2023 model year.

The new CR-V Hybrid is currently available in two trim levels. These include the EX and the EX-L, with the EX-L costing about $34k. Each model comes with a turbocharged engine that makes 190 horsepower and 179 pound-foot of torque. Plus, you get the benefits of a hybrid system for better fuel economy. 

What’s new about the CR-V Hybrid?

For 2023, Honda has increased the power and efficiency of the CR-V Hybrid. And that makes this a hybrid SUV that is worthy of consideration. The interior has been updated to modern Honda design language, similar to that of the Honda Civic. Speaking of the interior, the cabin feels more spacious as well. Which means more room for cargo and passengers.

The exterior looks more aggressive as well. And although most folks probably won’t take the CR-V Hybrid on serious adventures, it certainly does look the part. A range of safety features are now standard. Including things like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring. And that could make this hybrid SUV ideal for those with families. 

Does the CR-V Hybrid have a spare tire?

Unfortunately, it seems most manufacturers are moving away from offering spare tires. With this SUV, you will get a simple fix-a-flat system. Which is not as ideal as being able to change your tire if you get a flat. 

Should you buy a hybrid SUV?

Hybrid technology has only continued to advance in modern years. And now, most vehicles offer some form of hybrid setup. The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid is Honda’s latest hybrid variant on a popular crossover. 

The updates that Honda has made really do make the new CR-V an SUV worthy of consideration. Especially if you have had your eye on a new Toyota RAV4. The CR-V Hybrid should be available at some point in October.
