On the performance front, both pickup trucks offer two engine options. The standard hybrid powertrain in the 2023 Ford Maverick generates 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque, and the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. In comparison, the base 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine in the 2023 Toyota Tacoma generates 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, and the available 3.5-liter V-6 engine produces 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.

Also, the all-wheel system is not available for the Maverick Hybrid.

Furthermore, while the Maverick offers a new Tremor off-road package, it doesn’t match the capabilities of the off-road-focused models for the Tacoma, such as the TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro trims.

Maverick vs. Tacoma: Warranty coverage

Both pickup trucks have similar warranty coverage, with the backing of a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. However, unlike the Maverick, the Tacoma offers a free maintenance plan, with two years or 25,000 miles of coverage.
