Finally, you can go off-roading in the Ford F-150 without breaking the bank. You can’t spell affordable without Ford, but prices have been sky-high lately. Luckily, there is a way to save with the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler package, but don’t be fooled by hidden costs.
How much does the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler cost?
The 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler package price is $1,495. This is a steal if you’re looking to add more capability to your truck without spending an insane amount of money. The package slots between the FX4 and Tremor packages.
You can add the Rattler package for $400 more than the FX4 package. The current F-150 Tremor starts at about $55,519 but could get a price bump for 2023. Also, the 2023 F-150 begins at around $34,085.
According to AutoBlog, the Rattler package is available with the base XL trim. So it may start at about $35,580.
That’s a lot cheaper than the Tremor package and astronomically cheaper than the F-150 Raptor, which starts at $75,775. But you have to select a few extra options that may run up the price a bit more than expected.
What comes with the F-150 Rattler?
The 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler package adds 4×4 and builds upon the FX4 package. You get skid plates, hill descent control, specially tuned off-road front shock absorbers, monotube shock absorbers in the rear, and an electronically locking rear differential.
This beast rides on 18-inch alloy aluminum wheels wrapped in beefy all-terrain tires. The dual black exhaust tips also provide a deeper roar with each engine option. But the base engine isn’t available. You’ll have to pay to upgrade to a more powerful option.
You can pair the Rattler with the 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The 5.0-liter V8 engine with 400 hp and 410 lb-ft torque is also available. Last but not least, the 3.5-liter V6 engine cranks out 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque.
The Rattler has a unique look thanks to a black plastic grille and bumpers that feature fender vents. Rattler badging and logos include a unique rattlesnake pattern.
You’ll notice that the interior has Oynx seats with cloth inserts that have a scale pattern with bronze accent stitching.
Please note that the Rattler package is only available with trucks that have a 145-inch wheelbase. This includes the SuperCrew cab with a 5.5-foot bed and the Super Cab model with a 6.5-foot bed.
Plus, you can’t get the Ford F-150 Rattler without the XL High package along with the Trailer Tow package or the Class IV hitch. The Rattler probably starts at $42,495 before the $1,795 destination fee.
Is the F-150 Rattler package worth buying?
If you want a little more power and enhanced capabilities, then the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler package is worth it. It can go further than the F-150 FX4 and stands out with its slithering style. However, we were hoping for a more affordable option.
At least the FX4 package doesn’t come with as much red tape. But the Rattler still saves thousands compared to the Raptor trims. We will keep an eye on these trucks to see which option has the best performance and the most value for its price.
