The 2023 Honda Passport is one of the top options for SUV buyers, especially general off-roading enthusiasts. While it deserves this status, the Ford Edge 2023 is a solid option for a daily driver. This is true for a couple of reasons, but the biggest is that it has better fuel economy. The Ford Edge 2023 may not beat it by much in this regard, but it’s just one of the most significant justifications for why it’s a solid but underrated SUV.

Here’s how the 2023 Ford Edge beats the Honda Passport 2023 as a daily driver.

Fuel economy is one of the most significant factors that make a vehicle a great choice for a daily driver. The Ford Edge 2023 gets 21 miles per gallon in the city and 28 on the highway. This narrowly beats the Honda Passport 2023’s 19 miles per gallon in the city and 27 on the highway. However, any degree of better fuel economy makes a difference to the driver.

An excellent daily driver doesn’t have to be the most powerful vehicle on the road, which is one reason the new Ford Edge is a solid choice. According to Car and Driver, the Ford SUV comes standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 250 horsepower. The Honda Passport 2023 has a 3.5-liter V6 with a maximum output of 285 horsepower. What also puts the new Edge above the Passport is that it provides what many call a smoother ride with excellent handling.

In addition, the Ford Edge ST is also available for people who want a bit more power. This version of the Ford Edge 2023 has a 335-horsepower twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine. It accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.1 seconds. This acceleration is a tad bit quicker than that of the Honda Passport.

The new Ford Edge is also a solid choice over the Honda Passport because of the interior. Not only is it more spacious, but it has an arguably better-looking design. The cabin of this car has a clean and simple look, which is one of the reasons it has more space than the Honda option. In addition, there are storage cubbies throughout the vehicle and room for about 29 suitcases with the rear seats folded. This aspect of the SUV also makes it perfect for trips.

Regarding technology, the Ford Edge 2023 has a 12-inch touchscreen with the automaker’s interface. To compare, the Honda Passport has an eight-inch screen. Each trim comes with a WiFi hotspot. Drivers can also use both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. Buyers should note that the Ford Edge ST has its own interior package.

The Ford SUV is reliable and safe

The 2023 Ford Edge is also a safe and reliable vehicle. The NHTSA gave the SUV an overall five out of five-star rating on its crashworthiness test. The vehicle has four out of five stars on the rollover test, which makes it one of the best in its class. Of course, the Honda Passport 2023 also has great safety and reliability ratings, but these results are another reason the vehicles are compatible.

Of course, the Ford Edge wouldn’t be great for people who seek to use their vehicle for off-roading. However, many people buy the Passport for general everyday use, and the Ford Edge is a better choice for this purpose. Making the Edge more attractive, it’s a couple of thousand dollars less than the Honda SUV at $39,440. It may not be the best rated vehicle in its class, but it has its fans.
