Holy moly, we’re shocked at how well the new Chevy S10 Max flew under the radar, but now the secret is out. The 2023 Chevy S10 Max has a price that fits the needs of those looking for a capable option without breaking the bank. 

How much does the 2023 Chevy S10 Max cost?

The 2023 Chevy S10 Max starts at $19,125 USD. This actually undercuts the 2022 Ford Maverick, which starts at about $19,995. So, Chevrolet has a cheap truck that might be a Maverick fighter. 

However, there is a slight catch. For some reason, this new truck isn’t offered in America. Instead, it’s in Mexico with multiple options to consider. The S10 is offered with Chassis Cab, Regular  Cab, Double Cab, and Double Cab Turbo models. 

If you opt for the top-spec Double Cab Turbo with 4×4, this price quickly climbs to about $30,342. But the Maverick can get expensive in a hurry too. The Lariat trim starts at $27,335, then adding all-wheel drive costs $3,305. 

Why isn’t the 2023 S10 Max in America? 

We would love for the cheap 2023 Chevy S10 Max to come to America, and we aren’t giving up hope. Perhaps the engine options don’t meet higher emission standards in the United States. 

The S10 is available with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 141 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. This isn’t exactly an exciting figure. But you can upgrade to the 2.0-liter engine for 218 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. 

For comparison’s sake, the Ford Maverick has a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain with 191 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine for 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. 

The 2.4-liter engine in the S10 is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, and the 2.0-liter engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Both powertrains in the Maverick are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. 

You can’t pair the hybrid engine with AWD or the towing package with the Maverick. But the hybrid can tow up to 2,000 lbs, and with the gas-powered engine, you can tow up to 4,000 lbs. 

With the 2.4-liter engine, the Chevy S10 can tow up to 2,640 lbs, and you can tow up to 3,300 lbs with the 2.0-liter engine. 

But here is the kicker, the S10 is manufactured in China. It’s subject to the 25 percent tariff on light trucks imported to the United States, making it challenging to maintain a lower price point. 

Does the 2023 Chevy S10 Max provide enough value?

Yes, according to Muscle Cars and Trucks, the 2023 Chevy S10 Max includes plenty of value. The interior is crafted with high-quality materials such as leather seats and soft-touch covered surfaces. But you can see some plastic materials coated in silver paint. 

It comes with a 10-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration, keyless entry, and keyless ignition. Plus, the automatic climate control system comes with rear vents to keep people in the front and rear comfortable. 

But we aren’t sure what type of safety tech comes with this truck. It might not meet American safety standards. So, if this truck came to America, it might need to be reworked, but it’s an interesting start.
