Audi‘s A4 compact sedan is a fierce competitor amongst BMW’s 3 Series, Mercedes’ C-Class, and Volvo’s S60. With its well-equipped base model and superior all-wheel drive (AWD) system, the 2023 A4 is likely to impress buyers looking for a practical executive four-door.

Audi’s A4 experienced an exterior refresh three years ago. Therefore, potential buyers may be persuaded by a possible makeover of the elegant four-door inside and out as the company rolls out the part of B10 generation. Presumed upgrades from Audi include:

  • Audi Sport Interior Package available on base S4
  • LED headlights with DRL signature
  • Reconfigured user interface and infotainment layout
  • Adaptive cruise control added to the entire A4 line
  •  Redesigned front grille
  • Color replacements, including the addition of “District green” and deletion of “Terra gray” and “Turbo blue”
  • Updated taillights
  • New exterior appearance package for the A4 45, Allroad, and Premium Plus version

World-class cabin design will feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple Carplay and Android Auto, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a myriad of active safety systems as standard.

Driver delight continues with agile back-road handling from a responsive and refined suspension, bolstered by the terrain-pounding rally-derived AWD that comes in every A4 sedan regardless of trim level. Because of its technology, safety, and driver experiences, the 2023 Audi A4 easily takes on the likes of the Genesis G70, Acura TLX, and Lexus IS.

The compact sedan also comes with a range of dynamic engine configurations. Entry-level A4 sedans will be fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 making 201 horsepower, which gets 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

$4,000 more will net you fewer miles per gallon but more get-up-and-go with the more robust 2.0-liter four-cylinder churning out 261 horsepower, which is an excellent stopping place as the 349 hp supercharged 3.0-liter V6 will put the price of the A4 at $52,000; and that’s only optioning the engine. Other package upgrades will easily send this elegant executive vehicle sailing right past $60,000.

How much will a 2023 Audi A4 cost?

According to Audi, the 2023 A4 trim pricing is as follows:

  • Premium: $39,900 starting
  • Premium Plus: $45,000 starting
  • Prestige: $50,200 starting

Audi’s S4 entry-level business sedan has always been an understated figure in Audi’s range; even with rumored updates, it will likely remain price-competitive in the segment. With Audi’s typically addictive options list, top-of-the-line models could run you upwards of $60,000.

When can I get a 2023 Audi A4?

The new A4 sedan is expected to be released at the end of 2023. Ordering is currently unavailable for the coming model year as dealers are still shifting 2022 A4s. If you can’t wait that long, there are some used A4 models that have scored reasonably well in reliability.

Should you wait for the 2023 Audi A4 or order a 2022 model now?

Many think the 2022 Audi A4 sedan is the last iteration of the B9 generation. Yes, the compact sedan could use a bit more trunk space, but with 12 cubic feet, it’s common for the segment, and plenty for a week’s worth of shopping, tennis shoes, and a bag of golf clubs. After all, if you want more space, opt for the Allroad wagon instead.

Those hoping for a fully-electric A4 sedan will also have to wait as it will be at least the 2024 model year before Audi rolls out an A4 e-tron. Without ground-breaking updates to Audi’s compact sedan, the 2022 A4 is a great choice against others in the market.
