For the ultimate off-roading truck, look no further than the Tacoma TRD Pro. It comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 278 horsepower and 265 pound-foot of torque. Better yet, it offers the option for a six-speed manual transmission.

When it comes to off-road ability, this mid-size truck truly shines. It offers an electronically locking rear differential, skid plates, and FOX shocks. Also notable is a terrain monitoring system that includes a camera. The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is only available as a double cab and a five-foot bed. But it is still usable as a truck.

To give the TRD Pro a more aggressive sound, Toyota includes a cat-back exhaust system. Not only is the sound improved on the outside, but the TRD Pro boasts a premium audio system as well. Exterior features, according to MotorTrend, include LED lighting with sequential turn signals. Plus the tailgate has a spoiler for a sporty look.

The Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road is a simplified version of the TRD Pro. Toyota understands that not everyone wants to or has nearly $50,000 to spend on a mid-size truck. With the Tacoma TRD Off-Road, buyers still get the V6 engine and the choice between an automatic or manual transmission.

It is available in either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, but buyers who want something ready for the trails will likely want to opt for the 4×4 truck. Much like the TRD Pro, the TRD Off-Road also features a locking rear differential, but it is equipped with Bilstein shocks instead of Fox.

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road has a starting price of $34,890. Which is over $10,000 cheaper than the top trim Tacoma. Because of this, unless you are planning to off-road your truck every weekend, the TRD Off-Road may be the ideal choice. Of course, it doesn’t come with the prestige or ruggedness that the Tacoma TRD Pro is able to deliver.
