The RAV4 Hybrid is over $10,000 cheaper than the Toyota RAV4 Prime, which starts at $40,300. It also has standard AWD, which only costs $1,200 more than the gas-powered model but features way more horsepower, and saves about $650 per year in fuel costs.

Is the RAV4 Hybrid worth buying?

Yes, the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is an excellent option to consider with a peppy acceleration, well-balanced driving dynamics, a spacious interior, intuitive tech, and fuel savings.

The RAV4 Hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that combine to generate 219 hp. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.5 seconds, which is noticeably faster than the non-hybrid model.

The gas-powered RAV4 has the same engine but only provides 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. It gets an EPA-estimated 27 mpg in the city and up to 35 mpg on the highway. The Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 41 mpg in the city and up to 38 mpg on the highway.

But the RAV4 Hybrid can only tow up to 1,700 lbs, while the gas-powered model can tow up to 3,500 lbs. The Hybrid can carry a payload of up to 1,230 lbs.

For off-roading, the RAV4 Hybrid has a ground clearance of 8.4 inches. That’s pretty good for clearing obstacles, but we wouldn’t push it too hard on the trails. It’s well-equipped to handle snow and slippery conditions, though.
