The 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series Refuses to Change

As modern SUVs become more and more complex, one surprising brand is keeping things old-school. Yes, the auto manufacturer that builds things like the RAV4 Prime and Supra is still building a truck that is nearly 40 years old. That’s right, the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series is a vehicle that has been around for 38 years with minimal changes. And, if you live in the United States, you can’t buy a new one.

How much does the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series cost?

Unfortunately, you will not find a new Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series for sale in the United States. Because this vehicle is nearing 40 years old, it does not meet regulations in the States. Plus, it’s unlikely that this old-school SUV would be that popular. It is extremely basic and void of modern comfort. The fact that it has air conditioning is even a selling point for Toyota.

Can you import a LandCruiser 70 Series?

Because of EPA and DOT standards, it is nearly impossible to import a newer Land Cruiser 70 series. Now, because of the 25-year rule, you might be able to import an older Land Cruiser to the United States. There are actually companies out there that will do it for you. These include companies like Land Cruiser Direct and others. And that should help take some of the headaches out of importing a Toyota 4×4.

You couldn’t be blamed for wanting to import a Land Cruiser 70. According to The Drive, these SUVs are extremely capable, and they harken back to a simpler time in the automotive world. There’s a reason that classic vehicles are so popular among enthusiasts. Whether it be an off-road SUV or a muscle car, they offer a throughline to the past.

Does Toyota sell a Land Cruiser in the United States?

Recently, Toyota decided to stop selling the Land Cruiser here in the States. This has forced folks who want a capable SUV with modern luxury to look to Lexus. Plus, with the Land Cruiser, you get an off-road SUV that is ready to pack on the miles. It is not surprising to see one of these vehicles with hundreds of thousands of miles on the clock. And that is something that a certain group of buyers appreciate. Even older Land Cruiser models command a premium because they have a reputation for reliability over an extended period of time.
