The Toyota Camry has engine options from the base model LE with a 2.5L inline four-cylinder engine up to a range-topping V6. Forbes reported that the Camry LE accomplished a 28 mpg in the city and a respectable 39 mpg at highway speeds. Additionally, the Toyota Camry is available as a hybrid in the LE, SE, XLE, and new for 2022, the SE Nightshade. The hybrid models vary in fuel efficiency, with the Camry Hybrid LE achieving 51 mpg in the city and 53 mpg highway.

According to TrueCar, the hybrid figures beat the Honda Accord Hybrid and the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. Consequently, the Camry Hybrid is fuel-efficient and a smart alternative to the comparable Hyundai and Honda models.

Meanwhile, the Toyota Camry XSE V6 is less economical with the top-of-the-range powerplant. TrueCar reports that the XSE V6 zips around town at 22 mpg and cruises the highways with an average of 32 mpg. However, the lower fuel economy might be worth it. The 2022 Toyota Camry XSE V6 is powered by a 3.5L V6 engine that produces smiles and 301 horsepower.

Furthermore, the IIHS is a good judge of crash protection, given the range of testing. The IIHS tests driver and passenger-side frontal crashes, side-impact, and roof crush factors.

In addition to crash protection, the 2022 Toyota Camry comes with a suite of safety features and technology. The Camry comes with lane-keeping assistance, dynamic radar cruise control, steering assist, and lane departure alert.
