The Subaru Forester Wilderness is one lean, mean off-roadin’ machine. The Wilderness trim was recently introduced to give Subaru SUVs even more off-road capability. How does the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness handle deep snow?

The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness is ready for the winter

The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness is uniquely equipped to handle different types of terrain. It can battle rough trails, mud, and snow thanks to a feature known as dual-function X-Mode. X-Mode is a system designed by Subaru to choose between different settings that adapt the off-road SUV to different driving conditions.

X-Mode is especially useful when the SUV is climbing, going down steep declines, and trying to find traction on slippery surfaces. In the video above, a YouTuber takes a new Subaru Forester Wilderness on a snow-filled country road. The YouTuber drove the Forester Wilderness without X-Mode activated at first.

While driving in the snow, the YouTuber found that power was well-distributed between tires in Normal Mode. Snow/Dirt Mode created a fun driving experience in the snow while providing great handling as well. Deep Snow/ Mud Mode allowed for more wheelspin.

The Subaru Forester Wilderness was able to climb a hill covered with snow and a larger hill covered with deep snow. Even its Normal Mode is well-equipped to transfer power between wheels for maximum traction. The Subaru Forester Wilderness is one of the best SUV models to buy for driving in snow or any other tough driving conditions.
