The 2022 Nissan Frontier has become an increasingly popular mid-size truck. For the first time in nearly two decades, Nissan made serious updates to this pickup, and it appears that they have paid off. But no vehicle is perfect, and the Frontier is no exception, as this truck has already faced two recall notices. And if you have an affected model, you should certainly take your vehicle to your local dealership as soon as possible.

Why has the 2022 Nissan Frontier been recalled?

Back in December of 2021, two recall notices were sent out for certain 2022 Frontier models. Not every truck is affected, but enough showed issues that the NHTSA took notice. The first recall has to do with Frontier trucks that have the long bed option. Apparently, the tow hitch was not installed, and that can cause issues beyond towing.

Without the tow hitch, according to Cars.com, the structural integrity of the fuel tank is compromised. And that means in the event of a rear crash, the fuel tank could be damaged beyond what it may experience in normal situations. If your truck is affected by this, you should likely get it fixed.

The last recall has to do with the seat belt bracket. On some models, the left-rear seat may have had its mounting bolts incorrectly tightened. Because of this error, multiple Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards have been violated. During an accident, the loose seat belt bracket can break, which potentially increases the risk of injury.

Who issues recalls on cars?

The NHTSA is the government agency that is in charge of issuing recalls. There is a set process in place to ensure that affected owners are notified and have the ability to report any defects. Once it is determined that a vehicle needs a recall, owners will receive a piece of mail notifying them.

After that, it is up to the owner to bring their vehicle to a dealership for repairs. Recalls are performed at the cost of the manufacturer, so these problems are fixed at no cost to you. It is important to have recalls fixed in a timely manner. That way, you know your vehicle is functioning safely and properly.

Is the Frontier a good truck?

Despite having two recalls, the 2022 Nissan Frontier is a good truck. It comes with a standard V6 engine that makes 310 horsepower. Additionally, the starting cost of this mid-size truck is less than $30,000, and that helps to make it more affordable.

Plus, the Frontier is now a newer truck than competitors like the Toyota Tacoma. It may still be riding on an older frame, but with the 2022 updates, it feels newer. And to some buyers, that is definitely a perk when it comes to a pickup truck.
