The 2022 Mazda CX-5 has the advantage for performance. It offers two engine options: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (187 hp) and a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (250 hp). The 2022 Mazda CX-30 also offers two similar engine options, but they have a lower output than the ones in CX-5: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (186 hp) and a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (227 hp). Both the CX-5 and CX-30 come standard with an all-wheel drive system. 

The two crossover SUVs are evenly matched for efficiency. Both the CX-5 and CX-30 have an estimated fuel economy of 28 combined mpg.

If you need a crossover that can tow, then the CX-5 is the best choice for you. While the CX-30 is not rated for towing, the CX-5 has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.

CX-5 vs. CX-30: Safety

The CX-5 and CX-30 are strong for safety, with safety and driving assistance features like brake assist, a blind-spot monitoring system, a rear parking aid, and lane-keeping assist. Also, both the CX-5 and CX-30 earned the coveted IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award.

Since the CX-5 is a bigger vehicle, it’s not surprising that it provides more passenger and storage space than the CX-30. Which Mazda crossover SUV costs more: the 2022 CX-5 or the 2022 CX-30? The starting prices of the 2022 CX-5 range from $25,900 MSRP for the 2.5 S trim up to $38,650 MSRP for the 2.5 Turbo Signature trim. While Mazda did not yet release the price information for the 2022 CX-30, it’s not expected to differ much from the 2021 CX-30. The starting prices of the 2021 CX-30 range from $22,050 MSRP for the 2.5 S trim up to $34,050 MSRP for the Turbo Premium Plus Package trim.
