The 2022 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Signature is the final Mazda CX-5 trim. The CX-5 compact SUV is known for being luxurious. How does it compare to a luxury compact SUV? Time for 2022 Mazda CX-5 2.5 Turbo Signature vs. 2022 BMW X3.

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Signature is basically a luxury SUV

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Signature is as close to a luxury SUV as the CX-5 gets. The CX-5 Turbo Signature comes standard with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 256 horsepower using premium fuel.

The CX-5 Turbo Signature starts at $39,000. It achieves 24 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway.

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Signature includes standard all-wheel drive, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and an adaptive front lighting system. It features push-button start, Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry, and 12-volt power outlets. The CX-5 Turbo Signature also comes with paddle shifters, Caturra Brown Nappa leather-trimmed seats, and heated front and rear seats.

The luxurious compact SUV includes a genuine layered wood trim interior, a heated steering wheel, and a wireless phone charger. It also features a 10.25-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Traffic Sign Recognition System. It doesn’t get much more luxurious than the Mazda CX-5 Turbo Signature in the compact SUV vehicle segment. In fact, the CX-5 final trim is so luxurious that it could even rival one of the best luxury compact SUVs, the BMW X3.

The 2022 BMW X3 is the pinnacle of luxury compact SUVs

The 2022 BMW X3 starts at $43,700. It uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine to make 248 horsepower. It achieves 23 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway.

The BMW X3 is featured at the top of a list of best luxury compact SUVs compiled by U.S. News & World Report. Consumers enjoy the X3 because it has great engine options that make it enjoyable to drive. The X3 is also spacious and comfortable.

The 2022 model year is a refreshed model. The X3’s starting price is competitive in its vehicle segment, but when directly compared to the (more affordable) final CX-5 trim, the compact SUV’s value comes into question. Is the base model X3 really worth over $40K, or does that Bimmer logo make the SUV cost more than it should?

Comparing a final trim level to a luxury base model seems wacky, but the CX-5 is known for being luxurious. The Turbo Signature trim is as close as the compact SUV gets to the BMW X3’s starting price. Some consumers may compare the specs and decide that the more affordable CX-5 Turbo Signature offers more value for the money than BMW’s luxury compact SUV.

The BMW X3 costs close to $4,700 more than the CX-5 Turbo Signature. The Turbo Signature makes more horses and comes with more standard tech and safety features. BMW’s luxury compact SUV may be one of the best on the market, but Mazda’s compact SUV’s final trim is value-packed. If you’re looking for the better buy, the 2022 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Signature seems like a bargain compared to the X3.
