The 2022 Maserati Levante is a super high-end SUV – or is it? The Maserati Levante is also an awful lot like the Jeep Cherokee. So what gives? How are the 2022 Maserati Levante vs. the 2022 Jeep Cherokee similar, and why? And how are they different? Let’s take a look at these two sport utility vehicles and what they have in common.

The Maserati Levante is an awful lot like the 2022 Jeep Cherokee

The 2022 Maserati and the 2022 Jeep Cherokee are more alike than you might think at first. Car and Driver notes that while the Maserati Levante has a really nice interior, there are parts to it that are awfully reminiscent of the Jeep Cherokee. It says, “for example, the window switches, wiper-control stalk, and ignition button are the same as the Jeep Cherokee’s.” Car and Driver calls this a “disappointment,” which makes sense. If you’re spending more than $80,000 on a luxury SUV, you sure don’t want it to be pretty much the same thing you could have bought for $30,000.

So why do the Maserati and the Jeep Cherokee share features? They’re both part of the parent company Stellantis. Yet there is one thing that Maserati is getting right in the 2022 Levante model, and those are the controls. “The controls are functional, though, and better than some of the ergonomically questionable examples Maserati has come up with on its own over the years.”

The 2022 Maserati Levante is super expensive

The 2022 Maserati Levante is pretty expensive. Its price starts at $80,895. For that money, you’re getting a lot of Maserati for your money. You’ll get a twin-turbo V6 in the base model that puts out 350 hp. Want more? There’s also a twin-turbo V8 that can make 580 hp.

The Maserati Levante also comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, voice-activated virtual assistant, and a navigation system. In addition, you’ll get a wireless charging pad and an eight-speaker sound system. The Levante is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee costs less than half of the Levante price

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee price starts at $27,995. This will get you a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 180 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. This is matched to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The Jeep Cherokee Altitude, the base model, also comes with a bunch of features that make it a very desirable SUV. For example, it has roof rails, 17-inch wheels, and keyless ignition as well as entry, according to Edmunds.

In addition to all that, the Jeep Cherokee comes with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel as well as a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The Cherokee also comes with updated technology, including a six-speaker sound system and an 8.4-inch touchscreen that’s compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2022 Maserati Levante is clearly a luxury SUV that has a high-end interior. Is it worth more than $50,000 on top of the 2022 Jeep Cherokee? While only you and your budget can really decide that, it seems that if the Levante is just a gussied up Jeep Cherokee, your money may be better spent elsewhere.
