The 2022 Kia Telluride and the 2022 Subaru Ascent are two competitive three-row SUV options – and it’s easy to see why. There are benefits to each one, so you may want to consider your options before deciding. Both are equipped with plenty of room for the entire family, have excellent safety ratings, and come equipped with many standard features. Let’s see how the 2022 Kia Telluride compares to the 2022 Subaru Ascent.

The 2022 Kia Telluride is a three-row SUV with plenty to offer

The Kia Telluride starts at $33,390 with front-wheel drive (FWD). If you plan on adding on all-wheel drive (AWD), pricing starts at $35,390.

All models are powered by a 291 horsepower 3.8-liter V6 engine rated at 262 pound-feet of torque when it comes to performance. It returns 20 city/26 highway mpg in FWD and 19 city/24 highway mpg when equipped with AWD.

With such a large SUV, it’s important to have cutting-edge safety features by your side. For instance, the Telluride comes standard with Highway Driving Assist. This semi-autonomous driving system can automatically match your driving speed to the vehicle in front of you.

Another benefit of the Telluride? It has an upscale interior, and it’s probably the best in its class. Plush materials surround the cabin, as well as a dual-pane sunroof, a rear entertainment system, and wood trim. There’s also a 10.25-inch screen with access to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and navigation.

The 2022 Subaru Ascent comes standard with all-wheel drive

The 2022 Subaru Ascent starts at $32,795 and comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.

Powering this three-row SUV is the 260 horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that delivers 277 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy returns up to 21 city/27 highway mpg – which is pretty good for a full-size SUV with AWD. Plus, it’s great on all types of terrain due to its 8.7 inches of ground clearance.

If price is a huge factor during your vehicle shopping process, the Subaru will be the more affordable choice. Subaru is also known for its strong resale value, so you know you’re making a good investment.

The Ascent also comes with plenty of standard equipment, including EyeSight technology (with adaptive cruise control with lane-centering and lane-keep assist), the Starlink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity, and roof rails to pack up your outdoor toys.

For added peace of mind, the Ascent has earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award.

Should you choose the Kia Telluride or Subaru Ascent?

If you are considering the Kia Telluride and the Subaru Ascent for your travels, you’re probably wondering which option is best for you. Although both are great options, it really depends on your driving needs and goals, reports Kelley Blue Book.

For example, the Telluride features a powerful engine and has more standard technology features. So, if you’re a big fan of performance and advanced technology systems, go with the Telluride. However, if you are looking for a more affordable SUV (that includes standard AWD), better fuel economy ratings, and higher IIHS safety scores, stick with the Ascent.
