The 2021 Kia Telluride topped the 2021 Hyundai Palisade in nearly every ranking. Yet it wasn’t always a clear-cut victory. While the 2021 Telluride may have had a slight edge over the 2021 Palisade, the Hyundai SUV was a close second. Now the 2022 Telluride and 2022 Palisade have been revealed. Will things change? Or will the 2022 Kia Telluride beat the 2022 Hyundai Palisade for the second year in a row?

The 2022 Kia Telluride and 2022 Hyundai Palisade have similar underpinnings

The 2022 Kia Telluride and 2022 Hyundai Palisade have a similar mechanical basis. Each three-row SUV shares the same 3.8-liter V6 engine that can make 231-hp. Technically, the Telluride is rated to get one more mile per gallon in the city, at 20 to the Palisade’s 19. Both SUVs can go up to 26 mpg on the highway. According to U.S. News, they also each have similar dimensions and features and they can each tow up to 5,000 pounds.

As far as convenience and comfort features, the 2022 Telluride and 2022 Palisade are pretty much neck-in-neck. They both have an alarm, backup camera, and cruise control, as well as adaptive cruise control. They each come with a vehicle antitheft system and auto-off headlights, though only the 2022 Kia Telluride has optional fog lamps. The 2022 Telluride is also the only one of the two to offer remote start and keyless start.

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade is lacking the entertainment options the 2022 Kia Telluride offers

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade may be an all-around great SUV, but it’s lacking more than just remote engine start (though if you live in a cold climate, that may be enough to sell you on the Telluride). The 2022 Palisade also doesn’t offer some of the same great entertainment options as the 2022 Telluride.

For example, while the 2022 Palisade has HD radio (and the Telluride does not), it doesn’t have satellite radio, which comes standard in the Telluride. Additionally, the 2022 Hyundai Palisade doesn’t offer an entertainment system, which the 2022 Kia Telluride does. If you’re buying one of these three-row SUVs for your family and you plan on taking some road trips, a lack of an entertainment system in the Palisade may convince you to buy the Telluride instead.

The 2022 Telluride will cost you more than the 2022 Palisade

The 2022 Kia Telluride starts at $32,790 for its cheapest model, the Telluride LX. You can also get other trims, including the EX, S, and SX. As far as external features, the 2022 Kia Telluride has optional running boars, while the 2022 Hyundai Palisade does not.

You can get the 2022 Hyundai Palisade for slightly more, at $33,150. However, it’s worth noting that U.S. News does state that the average paid for the 2022 Telluride is actually more than the 2022 Palisade. The average paid for the 2022 Kia Telluride LX is $32,790, while the cost of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade is $33,150.

It seems that the 2022 Kia Telluride continues its reign as the best three-row SUV for a second year in a row. With so much between the 2022 Telluride and 2022 Hyundai Palisade being equal, the options for the Telluride make it a better choice. Knowing that the MSRP on the Telluride is lower, it may be possible to negotiate a lower price that will make it even more attractive.
