Wait, didn’t the Kia Seltos just debut as a new crossover with one heck of a sharp design? Even though it arrived in 2021, the 2022 Kia Seltos is about to receive upgraded looks to enhance its design. It’s even going to the dark side with a blacked-out Nightfall Edition.

The 2022 Kia Seltos is coming back in black, according to Motor1. The new Kia Seltos Nightfall Edition will begin at about $27,865, and this price includes the $1,175 destination fee. You can expect primarily visual upgrades with this model.

But unfortunately, there are no photos of the Nightfall Edition yet. The information about this trim level is detailed in the 2022 ordering guide. You can expect to see 18-inch matte black wheels, a black radiator grille, black roof rails, and black side sills. It’s safe to expect a blackened interior as well.

The NightFall Edition will serve as the cheapest trim option available with the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 175 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. The base engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder variant with 146 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque.

What else is new for the Kia Seltos?

Say goodbye to the turbocharged Kia Seltos S trim. It’s being discontinued. However, the Nightfall Edition will offer similar features and standard equipment. It will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Also, the 2022 Kia Seltos is receiving new badging with the updated Kia logo. But telling the trim levels apart will be difficult because Kia is removing the trim badging from the vehicle’s rear.

Other than that, the Kia Seltos will be pretty much the same. It just came out for 2021, so it doesn’t need a refresh yet. But on a positive note, safety features such as automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist will be standard.

Is the 2021 Kia Seltos a good crossover?

Yes, the 2021 Kia Seltos is an excellent crossover option to consider. You don’t have to wait for the 2022 model to enjoy this fun and sporty ride. You can get started in a new Kia Seltos for about $21,990.

The Kia Seltos gets an EPA-estimated 29 mpg in the city and up to 34 mpg on the highway. According to Edmunds, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.1 seconds, which is great for its class.

Edmunds recommends upgrading to the options 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. You can also opt for a wireless charging pad, 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster, and a head-up display.

The Kia Seltos provides a smooth ride with firm handling. A little wind noise may enter the cabin at highway speeds, and the climate control system could be a little stronger. But the seats are comfortable in the front and rear for tall adults.

Surprisingly, this tiny crossover is excellent on space. It provides up to 62.8 cubic feet of cargo space with 26.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. There are plenty of storage bins, cup holders, and trays for your stuff.

The 2022 Kia Seltos may sport a slightly updated look, but you can have a great time in the Seltos right now. We can’t wait to see what the new Kia Seltos Nightfall Edition looks like, though.
