If you are part of the 1 in 4 Americans that are interested in purchasing an electric car, you might be wondering which EV is right for you. While there are some supply chain issues still surrounding electric vehicles, more and more brands are starting to offer them. And that includes Kia, with its Kia EV6. So, is the 2022 Kia EV6 worth buying, and does it make a good first electric SUV?

Is the 2022 Kia EV6 the best electric car?

According to U.S. News, the 2022 Kia EV6 is a good EV. In fact, this SUV won the publication’s “Best Electric Vehicle” award for 2022. And that should be a solid signal of how well Kia has done with this model.

The 2022 EV6 has also won a number of other awards both for its design and its performance. So, if you are shopping for a new EV, this model certainly deserves your attention. Unlike other electric cars on the market, the design of the Kia EV6 is not too radical. And that should be appreciated by those in search of their first EV model.

Is the 2022 EV6 fast?

Depending on the model you buy, the Kia EV6 can be a fast SUV. That is especially true for the Kia EV6 GT. With this trim, buyers will get 576 horsepower and all-wheel drive. And that is fairly impressive for an SUV, especially one from the Kia brand.

The Kia EV6 GT is not on sale quite yet, but it is expected to arrive at some point this year. In addition to 576 hp, it will also boast 546 lb-ft of torque, which is ample power for a vehicle of this size. Kia has also stated that this model will have a software upgrade that will imitate the characteristics of a limited-slip differential.

How expensive is the 2022 Kia EV6?

The new Kia EV6 has a starting cost of $41,400. But, with federal tax credits, you can pick one up for less than $35,000 if you are lucky enough to find one. When properly equipped, the EV6 has a faster 0 to 60 mph time than the Porsche Cayenne Coupe and it offers a range of up to 310 miles.

With the EV6, you can get some exciting features. These include things like AWD, modern safety features, and plenty of tech. The new EV6 does share its platform with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, so if you are considering the Kia it might be worth looking at the Hyundai model.

Are electric cars good for winter?

In the case of the Kia EV6, this vehicle does offer an available heat pump. The heat pump will help to preserve range when the temperature outside drops. Plus, the AWD system should allow you to navigate snowy roads.
