The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is the Best Large Premium SUV

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer debuted on the luxury large SUV scene by making a splash. It’s one of the nicest – and also biggest – SUVs out there, and J.D. Power agrees. The 2022 Grand Wagoneer just topped J.D. Power’s list of the Top Large Premium SUVs in its APEAL study (Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout). Here’s what made the Grand Wagoneer stand out among the other luxury giants in its class.

The J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) study looks at how happy owners of new vehicles are after 90 days. “The study data provides insight on experiences with design, performance, safety, usability, comfort, perceived quality, and other factors.”

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has a lot going for it

J.D. Power assesses forty areas in ten key groups when determining the APEAL study rankings. These include: walking up to your vehicle, setting up and starting your vehicle, getting in and out of the vehicle, your vehicle’s interior, your vehicle’s powertrain, your vehicle’s driving feel, your vehicle keeping you safe, using the infotainment system, your vehicle’s driving comfort, and also fuel usage.

The Grand Wagoneer comes with a 6.4-liter V8 engine that makes 471 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and also four-wheel drive. Unfortunately, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer only gets 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway for a combined 15 mpg.

People love their Grand Wagoneers

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is beloved among its owners. Despite its hefty price tag – the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer price starts at $86,995 – people are willing to shell out for it. And that’s the bottom of the MSRP range, which goes up to $103,995.

Part of the reason that people love their Grand Wagoneers so much is that they really identify with them. That’s part of what the APEAL study is designed to measure. It tries to quantify how people feel in their vehicles, asking them to think about “37 attributes, ranging from the sense of comfort they feel when climbing into the driver’s seat to the exhilaration they get when they step on the accelerator.”

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is one of the best luxury SUVs and the J.D. Power APEAL study demonstrates why it’s so beloved. If you’re looking for an SUV you can have an emotional connection with, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer just might be the best SUV for you.
