This one goes out for the Jeepers! We know those Jeep enthusiasts are out there, and it’s time to check up on the Jeep Gladiator. Let’s see if the 2022 Jeep Gladiator is better than the 2021 Gladiator.

2022 Jeep Gladiator what’s new?

The 2022 Jeep Gladiator is primarily a carryover model. This means that it’s not receiving any significant changes. However, it is still a little early for this truck to gain a mid-cycle refresh. That’s to be expected in 2023 or 2024.

But the Gladiator did a few new screens. The entry-level Sport now comes with a standard 7-inch display that replaces the 5-inch unit. It comes with Unconnect 4 software, so Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.

The Mojave, Rubicon, and Overland models now have a larger 8.4-inch screen with the more advanced Uconnect 4C system. It’s a bit of a bummer that the Unconnect 5 system isn’t available. Also, navigation and a nine-speaker Alpine stereo system are standard.

Across the lineup, each Gladiator comes with remote proximity keyless engine and a new cabin filter that removes 95 percent of particles.

But new tech comes with a price. The Gladiator now starts at $36,085 instead of $34,960. That’s a $1,125 increase, and the destination fee is $1,595.

Where is the Gladiator 4xe?

We hoped that the 2022 Jeep Gladiator 4xe would emerge this year. We’ve already seen teasers of the Jeep Gladiator with blue contrast stitching, like the Wrangler 4xe. Plus, the Jeep Cherokee 4xe finally arrived.

But unfortunately, the Gladiator 4xe is delayed until 2024. According to Motor 1, the PHEV truck will arrive after the Jeep Wrangler JL receives its mid-cycle refresh, which is currently planned for 2023.

The redesigned Wrangler should have updated LED headlights, a revised front bumper, new LED taillights, and a beefier rear bumper. The interior and tech will be updated for a fresh and modern feeling.

Then similar updates will most likely be applied to the Jeep Gladiator for 2024. By then, the hybrid powertrain could be more powerful and efficient. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and two electric motors to crank out 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.

Is the 2022 Gladiator worth buying?

Yes, the 2022 Jeep Gladiator is worth buying. The price may seem high, but this truck is value-packed. It includes standard 4×4 and plenty of other off-roading-ready equipment. The standard 3.6-liter V6 engine pumps out 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. You can opt for the 3.-liter diesel V6 engine for 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque.

The engine can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic. Plus, the Gladiator can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.2 seconds. It can tow up to 7,650 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,700 lbs.

Plus, the cabin is spacious, durable, and convenient. There is more legroom in the back seat than the Wrangler has to offer, and the roof panels are easy to remove for an open-air experience.

The Gladiator offers the best of multiple words with the utility of a truck, the off-roading prowess of a Wrangler, and better on-road manners for daily driving.
