Do you want the boxy 2022 Jeep Renegade or the more aerodynamically shaped 2022 Jeep Compass? The Renegade has an MSRP of about $22,495, while the Compass has an MSRP of $26,020. That’s only about a $4,000 difference.

The Compass sips a little more gas with an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city and up to 31 mpg on the highway. The Renegade gets an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in the city and up to 32 mpg on the highway.

Does the Renegade or Compass have more power?

The 2022 Jeep Renegade comes with a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 177 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.7 seconds. When properly equipped, the Renegade can tow up to 2,000 lbs.

With the 2022 Jeep Compass, you get a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 177 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 60 mph in about 9.1 seconds. With the towing package, the Compass can tow up to 2,000 lbs. This is enough power to haul a smaller teardrop camper or small boat.

The Renegade provides a firm ride with noticeable bumps but has a relatively quiet interior. Wind and road noise may be noticeable at higher speeds. The Renegade features sporty handling but mushy brakes.

The Compass has underwhelming handling, and the transmission can be slow to downshift. It may be a little smoother over bumps but could have a noisier interior. The seats are noted for being adequate.

For off-roading, the Jeep Renegade is the champ. It has the best-in-class off-roading features and can go a bit further than the Compass. However, the Jeep Compass is pretty capable as well.

Does the Compass or Renegade have better features?

The 2022 Jeep Compass has a little more passenger and cargo space. You can access up to 27.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats and up to 59.8 cubes total. The 2022 Jeep Renegade has 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats with up to 50.8 cubes.

Taller people may be more comfortable in the Compass. It offers more head and legroom. The front seats in the Renegade are spacious enough for taller adults, but legroom is tight in the back seat.

The Renegade may have a more rugged feel with the use of plastics and rubber in the interior, making it easy to clean. But the Compass features a brand new interior design with higher quality materials.

You get an 8.4-inch infotainment screen that can be upgraded to a 10.1-inch unit with the Compass. The Renegade comes with a 7.0-inch infotainment system that can be upgraded to 8.4-inches. Both Jeeps include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Renegade also comes with more standard safety features, including forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

So, the Jeep Compass offers a little extra room and a nicer interior, but the Jeep renegade is more fun to drive with more capability and a slightly better fuel economy.
