The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited starts at $34,850. It uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine to make 187 horsepower. The compact SUV gets 26 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway.

The Hyundai Tucson Limited comes with leather-trimmed seating, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It includes a power panoramic sunroof, Hyundai digital key, and wireless device charging.

The compact SUV features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. It also comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

The 2021 Mazda CX-5 Signature starts at $37,505. It uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine to make 227 horsepower. The compact SUV gets 22 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway.

The CX-5 Signature features Caturra Brown Nappa leather-trimmed seats and heated front seats. It comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a genuine layered wood trim interior.

The 2021 Mazda CX-5 Signature includes a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes with a Bose 10-speaker sound system, front USB audio inputs, and dual rear USB charging ports.

The CX-5 Signature is the more powerful compact SUV model. It may have a more luxurious cabin than the Tucson Limited, but its features come at a price. The compact SUVs are both Insurance Institute for Highway Safety top safety picks.

The choice between the Tucson Limited and CX-5 Signature comes down to whether you’re willing to pay an extra $2,655 for the better-equipped model. Both compact SUV options are great, but the CX-5 offers an interior that looks like it belongs in a much more expensive vehicle. The Tucson Limited doesn’t squash the CX-5 Signature.
